Last night on the10:00 news on Channel 9, Dean Blevins gave this report on Matt Mauck-Average arm, can run if he has to, has trouble understanding and reading secondary coverages, good leadership ability and will get rattled if pressured.
In todays edition of the paper, Berry Tramel discusses the Tiger blitz packages. He states facetiously, "The LSU defense has 200 blitzes. It's a number designed to terrify. Like a left hander with three dozen fastballs or your college teenager with three credit cards. "
"The 200 blitzes are myth of course".
"Fifteen", estimated OU line coach Kevin Wilson. Nothing we haven't seen before. Nothing earth shattering.".
The rest of the article goes on to say how the OU o-line just didn't play up to par against KSU and they took it personally and they feel they can control LSU's blitz package because they have had time to work on it.
Wilson offered ways to counter the blitzes:"Don't abandon the run too soon, be sound but stay aggressive and don't over compensate."
They are confident that if they can protect White he will pick us apart.
It may just be me on this end hearing nothing but OU stuff, but I get the feeling more and more that everyone on the OU side, from Stoops on down, firmly believes there is no way they can lose this game. Listening to Bob Barry Sr. (voice of OU) on WWL last night, you would think we were playing a bunch of Supermen. I believe in being confident but these guys are just plain arrogant.
Also it is reported that Ben Wilkerson has taken over the long snapper duties and he has been less than effective in practice. Any truth to that?
Anyway Happy New Year to all, be safe, don't drink and drive and God bless.

May I also point out that under Nick Saban we're 9-0 in a dome.

Thats more than just Matt at work.

Justin Vincent will have a huge game in the Super dome Sunday.

I expect White to be hit until he is knocked out of the game with a concussion or carried out ... horizontally.

After several series of THREE & OUT ... OU shutout in 1st Qtr ...

we'll start seeing the Trix ... that's when it's all over for them ...

Another QB, the option, halfback passes ... all the desperate antics of a desperate coach ...

OU won't know what hit 'em.

Actually, read an article this morning quoting Donnie Jones as saying that Gant Petty is currently tagged as the long snapper.. and that Wilkerson would only come in if Petty was struggling. Though if what you've heard is true about Wilkerson's performance in practice.. let's hope Gant is feelin' it.

I totally agree with the attitude of the Okies btw. Read some article quoting Harris or Teddy or whatever and they were saying how their defense is the best collection of talent ever and all they have to do is play up to their definition of par and they'll beat anyone blah blah. Nice attitude.. I really really hope they actually believe that. Sounds almost like complacency. I'd have to say the sting of the KSU loss is way gone.

Sounds like that coach is trying to calm down his players... At least I hope that's what he's trying to do....Looking like a moronic a$$ surely can't be his goal, can it?

Matt Mauck an average arm? Sure, every average QB leads the SEC in pass efficiency. I guess Eli Manning, David Greene and Chris Leak have even more average arms. How pitiful are Casey Clausen or Jared Lorenzen if Matt Mauck's arm is only average.

Matt Mauck can't read defenses? Sure. That's why Saban gave him such high marks on his audibles. After all, Saban doesn't know anything about football.

OU thinks we only have 15 different blitz packages? Good. Let them think whatever they want to think. I thought college coaches knew how to read game film, but I guess this guy can't. Since we ran out of state names to describe the different blitzes, and since we weren't using Canada or Mexico state names, we have over 50 blitz packages. Of course, since Saban doesn't know anything, perhaps he simply wants to confuse our own players with duplicate names for the same blitz package.

    Yeah right.

That sounds like someone who: 1) does not know what he is talking about or 2) is whistling past the graveyard.

These clowns apparently don't understand that if Saban was a RUTS type coach, Mauck could have thrown for 10 more TD's than he did if he had played longer in the many blow out games we had.

Also, if they are not concerned about the LSU blitzes, it only means that they are seriously into substance abuse. I can't remember any college defense past or present that put(s) more pressure on a QB than the 2003 LSU defense.
