Been enjoying the discussion here for a long time and thought it was time to jump in.

We need to remember that the success teams had against AU early this season was because Campbell got rattled and couldn’t perform.

    I think we should

    1. Hit Campbell hard and fast. The fans will play a part here and I’m sure we’ll be up to the task.
2.Shut down the run. I feel good about this to the AU run game is going to hit a brick wall.

    Campbell’s stats in losses:

    Passing
Date Opponent Comp Att Yards TD Avg
    08/30/03 USC 12 26 121 0 10.1
    09/06/03 @GT 20 33 190 0 9.5

    Rushing
    Pct Att Yards TD Avg
    46.2% 16 -25 0 -1.6
    60.6% 10 -46 0 -4.6

Bottom line: get Campbell, get a win.

Oh and great forum by the way.

Good thoughts. If LSU can stuff the line and hold Auburn to decent amount of running yards, making Campbell beat them....they will win

True. If you guys can rattle Campbell he can and probably will make mistakes.

However, those first two games we were unable to run the ball effectively, mainly due to predictable play calling (which has changed).

So to beat AU you first need to stop the run.

This will be a good old-fashioned smash mouth SEC war.

(BTW, SL where's your other sig? It's toooooo funny.)

I do not buy the "predictable play-calling" excuse. C'mon, Auburn runs the football alot...2 out of 3 plays. Just like it took LSU to stink against Florida before the OL and RBs focused on really running the football, it took 2 awful performances by Auburn before they refocused against bad opponents and really started blowing people off the ball. LSU knows Auburn is going to run the ball. Formations are not going to hide that fact.

    77,

You obviously didn't watch our games too closely. It was "follow the TE in motion to the ball". My 7 YO was calling the plays for crying out loud.

In addition the O-line couldn't seem to block to save their life.

After CTT had the offense evaluated by a NFL consultant, things changed and not only have we mixed up the formations but also the balance has re-enter the offensive equation.

In the second half of the other games, we got a lead and simply began eating the clock and running the ball. But prior to that we are more balanced and have thrown deep a little at least to keep the defense honest. None of this was present in the first two games.

The gameplan will definitely be to run the ball, but don't be surprised to see JC throwing it a lot more than usual. The WR have begun to step up and the threat of the running game has bought JC time to throw. He's not flashy but he is efficient. And in AU's offense that's all that is needed.
