So this apartment fire in Chicago that killed 10 kids....

Investigators think the cause is likely related to the back porch where kids had been setting off fireworks earlier in the evening and adults had been smoking.

This was a slumber party....kids ages 3 months to 14, no working smoke detectors, fire broke out early Sunday morning, and NO adults were at home. It's mind-boggling. Since when do infants attend slumber parties? How on earth could any adult think it okay to leave 10 kids unsupervised, even if it is during sleeping hours?

Chicago has to get the award for the city that cares about their children the least.

Worked up in Chicago for about a year around ohare. No problem around there. Had to go down to midway to talk to a contractor. Got off on wrong exit and holy shit. I went from normal every city America to 3rd world shit hole in a block. When I got where I was going dude told me I was lucky to have made it to his place.

I stayed in a hotel near Midway once. Went to a Cubs game and got lost when I left. Ended up in Indiana then back in the worst part of Chicago. This was before GPS.

Years ago, my dad and I tripped to Chicago for the USC/irish game. We took a cab to dinner one night and the driver was FOB from Pakistan. Didn't speak much English, didn't seem to know shit about Chicago, and it was clear pretty quickly he was lost. As soon as I saw the signs for Cabrini-Green, I started to panic and told my dad we needed to get to a safer area and just get out the car.

Chicago can be the best and worst. The Rosebud on Rush St is one of the best Italian meals I've ever had....mobsters dine there as well.

I will be there on the 6th and for the next 11 days. Think we are going to see Billy Joel at Wrigley which should be pretty cool.

"Katherine Berman, wife of ESPN personality Chris Berman, was extremely drunk and caused the crash that killed both her and another driver, according to a state police evaluation obtained Thursday by The Hartford Courant.

In May 2017, Berman’s car rear-ended a vehicle driven by 87-year-old Edward Bertulis in Waterbury, Connecticut. The collision sent Berman’s car down an embankment and Bertulis’ car into a utility pole. Both died.

The Connecticut state police investigation noted that Berman registered a 0.26 percent blood-alcohol reading, well over the state’s 0.08 limit. An accident reconstruction report concluded she was driving 82 miles an hour in a 45 mile-an-hour zone (Bertulis was going 30 miles an hour) and did not apply her brakes before impact, "

Just damn. 3x the legal limit, going 82 in a 45, and no brakes. And yes, the Bertulis family has sued....the bar that served her the drinks.

Or people in general. You're probably safer walking down the street in an ISIS-controlled city.
