http://deadspin.com/dashcam-footage...source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow Bengals defensive end Sam Montgomery was pulled over early Wednesday morning when L.Cpl. R.S. Salter clocked him driving 89 mph in a 55 mph zone. Once Salter pulled him over, the South Carolina state trooper turned into a real asshole. Montgomery was berated, handcuffed, put in the back of a patrol car, and taken to jail. Under South Carolina law, officers can make an arrest for speeding over 25 mph the posted limit. So, Montgomery was booked and released later that day with a $355 citation. Despite the legality of the arrest, Salter was suspended without pay the next day.
To be honest, I've seen/heard much worse from cops. I didnt understand the military question until I saw what I think are dogtags on Sam. Props to him for being respectful and polite the whole time. He looks a hella lot bigger then he used to be, but maybe thats just me...
What a dickhead cop! He should lose his job, no telling the shit he pulls when the cameras aren't rolling, and then his wife lies by saying her husband had no idea he was an NFL player.....props to Sam for keeping his cool.
He tried to bait Sam IMO. He could have, quite literally, ruined Big Sam's career just b/c he's a power hungry cocksucker. I fucking HATE cops like that. MF'er should be fired.....God knows Sam almost did.
Really . . . this cop was about average as far as cop stops. He was obviously intimidated by Sam's size, who wouldn't be. He wasn't taking any chances. I've seen far worse cops. This guy called him sir and never hit him or pushed him around and insulted him. There wasn't much for Sam to get angry about. He was cool with it. You drive around at 90 mph and you expect to get pulled over and possibly cuffed.
well the department feels differently, the suspended the cop, threaten to taser someone because you cant get your commands together is bullshit. Being threatened by someones size who is clearly cooperating is more bullshit. Going through is cellphone without a warrant is even more bullshit. Asking if he plays football and then saying well you are under arrest after the NFL answer, is questionable at best. Most cops use discretion, write a ticket and move the fuck on. this guy had a hard on
I'm not defending the cops actions, I'm saying that I've experienced far worse from cops. This video is not the poster child for cop abuse by far.
Cops aren't allowed to search cell phones without a warrant. Riley vs. California June 25, 2014. The cop violated Sam's Fourth amendment rights during this arrest.
Probably a combination of being both jealous and a racist muther effer. I'd like to know his record on suspensions for people he's pulled over going >25. Then I'd like to see a racial break-down.
