See if this can take us to kickoff and maybe keep going. Of course the moon landing. What an event right. Also the year of the '69 Mets. Ironically they were stuck in an airport in Montreal watching the historic event go down because their flight was delayed. They interviewed one of them and he said something to the effect of "yeah it's really cool, Neil Armstrong is running around on the moon and we can't get a damn plane to bring us from Montreal to New York.
I just watched a taped speech VP Pence gave at the Kennedy Space Center honoring the Apollo 11 astronauts and all those who supported them and assisted them in reaching the moon. I remember watching the lunar landing on a black & white TV in my parents living room. Two weeks later I was on a flight to Nam where I often times wished I was on the moon.
I also watched it on a black & white TV. We must have been the last people in Baton Rouge to get color TV. I tell you it's not easy being an underprivileged white boy.
I just watched a 30 simulated video of Eagle's descent and landing on the lunar surface. The audio was the actual audio from the Apollo 11 mission. I'm not afraid to admit that it brought a tear or two to my eyes.
I watched with my parents in the living room, furious that my girlfriend had to watch with her family, and not with me. I was a dick!
