That is actually an excellent question and something I didn't even ponder. 24 plays to go 69 yards for a 2.8 yard average. And that's figuring in a 4 yard PI penalty. Against arguably one of the worst defenses in college football.

I guess he figured momentum was on our side. -Trying to call our last time out after the Landry interception. -Fake punt in the 1st quarter from our own 10. The punter is instructed that when the opponent doesn't cover the gunners on the outside the fake is automatically on. The problem is that most coaches tell the punter that the play is only on when you have the ball outside your own 35 yard line or so.
You don't get that we wanted to leave no time left on the clock? I'm not saying our offense is primed for a take off or anything, but come on, this is nitpicking. We ran out of time because we are stupid, but scoring with too much time left on the clock is equally stupid.
Yeah, but you don't purposely run 24 plays for 69 yards to do it. We actually were running out of bounds and rushing to the line way too early in the drive (relatively speaking for a team that is well coached and knows how to manage the clock, per se). But hindsight now says we needed to preserve every second possible. Our immense ineptitude on offense actually ran down the clock, not proper clock management. It's tragically sad any which way you look at it.
