    hi guys,

    hope were all good.

Myself and a mate are coming over from England to see u boys give Kentucky a right good a** whooping on the 01st of October.

We both love our sports and were coming over stateside for 2 weeks to see as much sport as possible starting in NYC, but more importantly get involved with the tailgating, get very drunk and have lots of fun.

Hence why were coming to LSU which has been dubbed in our trip as our "showpiece" event.

were stopping in New Orleans a few nights before and then coming over to Baton Rouge the morning of the game (early)

Our knowledge of tailgating eticate stretches as far as youtube videos and bits of the internet so just wandered is it easy enough to just buy beer and stuff in and around the stadium or do we need to literally carry as much as humanly possible to the ground and set up pitch

does everyone mingle around and get involved, if u know what i mean?

were not the most organised souls in the world so we were just going to turn up and go with the flow but any help or info from u gals and gents will be warmly recieved.

    thanks in advnace

    Will

Tailgaiting happens all over campus and friendly Brits with LSU regalia will be welcomed all around. I'm sure there must be snobbish groups around somewhere, but they must be rare, I haven't met any. You will find lots of people cooking and you will be offered food at any place where you get acquainted with the people. Drinks too, although it is polite to bring some of your own. Get one of those rolling ice chests and be mobile, move around the campus and see the sights, meet people, and the great variety in cooking. You can park the chest at someones Tailgate location before the game and pick it up afterwards. Many groups have folks that stay at the tailgate site throughout the game and listen to the radio or watch TV.

No alcohol is allowed in the stadium although many of us smuggle in a small flask of whiskey. They will toss you if they catch you, though. Most folks just drink hearty before the game and resume shortly thereafter.

Just introduce yourself in your English accent as an out-of-towner (you don't say!) and ask questions and you will be taken care of. Showing up and going with the flow will work for you.

There are eateries and drinkeries and live music around campus and all over town. There are two riverboat casinos downtown for more fun. Get back with us in the fall and we'll give you lots of recommendations.

It will still be hot in early October so dress for the tropics. And the girls do too, you know.

    cheers red,

really nice welcoming response, just what we were after.

top advice, im already refining my english accent , nearly got the Hugh Grant thing to a tee now,

really excited about it, cant wait.

were gonna be on foot, one or two people have told us that might be a problem getting to the game as they said that the transprot system isnt the best - im only going on what iv been told, is it possible to stay anywhere near the campus so we can just get straight into it so to speak.

if u hear a couple of english chaps bumberling about u know its us. lol

    bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you check back in a week or two before the game to remind us, many of us will give you directions to our tailgates on campus.

I too would appreciate any tips on etiquette as a tailgating virgin. At this stage our only plans are wear appropriate colours and bring beer!
