Building my first. Well, I bought a basic .223/5.56 and plan to start attaching things too it.

Anyone have any? If so, what brand of mods would you suggest?

I guess this is a hijack, but meant in the best possible way.
Forget the AR. Get you a CZ 527 Varmint in .204 Ruger.
    Here is why:

And I am blind and pretty much an idiot!

This is my first one. I thought about it, but being that everything on the 308 is more expensive, I figured my 1st will be the AR15.

You get what you pay for. I'm not a gun collector so I won't do anymore to discourage you. If you want an AR-15 I won't be of much help.

Lol, mine was govt issue in the form of an M-4. It had rails but only enough gadgets to get the job done. Some of those fools used every possible inch of rail space that they could and its just ridiculous. First ones looking for a place to hide when the air starts snapping. I no longer have it, they sort of frown on taking them home.

Consider a mini-14 instead. Same .223 round but light, accurate, dependable and not classified as an assault weapon even though it can handle large magazines. A Mini with a scope is the best varmint carbine around. You will actually use it.

AR-15's loaded with all the rails and accessories screams "amateur."

@red55 Yep, those are the ones I'm talking about. Damn fools would get all this stuff sent from home or order it out of a catalog. Can't move, can't get the damn thing into the vehicle where space is already limited. I had a sure-fire on mine and that is about it.

As for the OP, I don't think he is looking to varmint hunt, think he just wants a cool toy which is fine.

Yea I wasn't thinking of anything crazy just a scope and different grips/stock for comfort. And yes, its a toy.
