Weren't ready? Really? We had the exact same amount of time to prepare for this game as you. Your boys were flustered by an all around better team. We tried to tell you guys about the differences between your conference and ours. No doubt you guys could've probably played better. But if we had been firing on ALL cylinders, WHOOO!!! I look at it like this. Oregon is the new-age, small, rice-burning 4-cyllinder japanese car with a suped up paint job. Very small, very quick, somewhat new to the game. LSU is the good old fashioned American southern muscle. Built for power, but just as fast if not faster. No need for nitrous. The motor is all that's needed.
I agree. He kept on insisting that because they beat Tennessee, they could beat us similarly. But we kept on telling him we would be more like Auburn...except our D would be better and we would run on them all day. Dude wouldn't listen and would bring up the most obscure stats to support his wack statements.
They showed a pretty telling stat on TV last night. Oregon's offense speaks for itself. They put up XBox type numbers against most teams they play. But, when they play against teams that have more than a week to prepare for them, those stats are drastically reduced and they have a losing record. I like Oregon. They're fun to watch and except for a small few, their fans are generally classy. I hope they run table. They will be a much better team at the end of the year. But, as some already knew and the rest are starting to figure out, teams with dominate front 4s will generally eat the spread alive. It doesn't always guarantee a 'W' , but it goes a long way to disrupting what that offense likes to do.
I've posted many times, that I was worried about our inexperienced receivers. We lost last year's, go to guy, to graduation, and our #2 as well. Our young receivers were dominated. Our passing game was out of sync, because of LSU, and because our passing game is a work in progress. Without a clicking, big strike passing game, the Ducks were over-matched. Our receivers and passing game was not ready to go up against the Tigers. We weren't flustered, we got beat.
