The best list Imo. But why not go back to at least Hodson? I know most of the fans on this board can't go further then him though.
Made a few adjustments based on W-L records. 1998 was Tyler's best year statistically but the start of the slide in 98 (4-7 record). Hard to rank that too high as he was probably succeeding partly due to being behind so much and having defenses relax and play conservatively.
This. Looks like the OP places value on hardware, but if it's just a QB competition, Davey and Russell are above the rest. Here's my list. Davey Russell Mauck Flynn Lee Tyler Jefferson I'm not going any further unless I can go back to Hodson. There shall be no Howard, Nall, Booty, Clausen, or otherwise on my list. I get the Flynn love...great Tiger indeed. But AT LSU, he was NOT a great QB. Three INTs against Bama in 2007, not much better overall numbers than JJ in '09, to be honest...except more TDs. He had a pretty good crew to throw to*, though...and had many more INTs than JJ in '09. Piss poor college QB rating. Great leadership, though. *Doucet Lafell Byrd Dickson ***DISCLAIMER*** Lee is where he is because we're only 2/3 of the way thru the season, and we haven't faced our toughest opponent yet.

OP is correct. Flynn showed up big in the big game. 4 tds in the championship. He did miss 2 games. Mauck turned the ball over 3 times in the championship, had 0 tds. Won despite him turning the ball over. He threw 3 ints against ole miss. Your comparison to JJ to Flynn, is ridiculous. Matt Flynn -- 12 2622 218.5 - 25 tds Matt Mauck-- 14 2922 208.7 - 29 tds Mauck had pretty good receivers too. Michael Clayton D. Henderson Skyler Green Eric Edwards Dwayne Bowe if you want to be sentimental, that's fine. Mauck had 300 total yards more than Flynn. Add Flynn's 218.5 average a game for the 2 missed games, (MTSU & Tenn) he's well over 3,000 yards.
You might want to retract this...he currently plays backup for AAron Rogers and the Green Bay Packers...
