also keep in mind that most of the players drafted from Ohio State this past weekend were from failed coach John Cooper's last classes.......

I guess we can lump Cooper in with Mack Brown at Texas as coaches who can recruit but can't win.

As a Buckeye fan I can answer this.

First of all we played a tough schedule. (Our two losses @ Wisconsin at night is a very difficult plact to play, and @ Michigan is a tough place to play when Ohio State comes to town, plus they are a pretty good team)

We didn't play well against our Rival who we had beaten two years in a row and was ready for us.

At the key positions of QB and RB we were servicable at best.

Our offensive line which did have some draft picks did not work well together because they were fat and slow.

Finally, the # of draft picks is decieving I think. Most of those players will not be on NFL rosters within 3 years. Probably 6 or so will have real NFL careers.

I think we were an elite team this past season, but I have posted here before that LSU would have won a playoff I thought if it existed.

I will be shocked if you don't have every player on your National Championship team drafted through the years. we just had a big Senior class, and it is why we had such high hopes.

This year should be fun. I heard from a friend of mine down there that your spring practices and game were very clean, and you guys looked good again this year.

What do you think about Georgia getting all the pre-season SEC Hype. When you guys are polishing off your rings?

I'm sure I will check in time to time to see what you all have to say.

easy answer to your question. because they won it in 2002-2003. any of you overly optimistic LSU fans that think just because we have all of these returning starters and saint nick, OSU is a prime example that it's so difficult to repeat because you need everyting to break your way. not to mention, a favorable schedule. remember eli's stumble on 4th down?

Bah, Eli didnt stumble, Lavalais pushed him flat on his ass. :D

About UGA getting the SEC hype, I think they deserve it, too. I think they are going to have a helluva team this year, and they are clearly the class of the east. It is interesting, though, that the 2 teams that figure to have the best shot at winning the west (LSU and Auburn), both play UGA in the regular season. I will have to reserve judgement on this LSU team until I see the passing game. We have a newcomer at QB, UGA has a seasoned, senior veteran.

I'll reserve judgement for the poor bastids that

have to face LSU's Offensive line and running game.

Then, if they do manage to slow LSU down ... time to face the Dee

Nowhere to run to ... Nowhere to hide

Ohio State didn't win the NC, because Craig Krenzel can't win without Clarett

Killernut I will agree with most of what you say however it can be argued Big 10 is NOT the SEC. The Big 10 does not play a Championship game. Although LSU's schedule was favorable (Since the toughest games were at home) Having to face Indiana, Michigan State, and Northwestern is a little different then facing Auburn, Georgia, Florida.
we did have Miss state. However give me Miss State over Indiana or Northwestern 6 days till sunday.

Believe me I am not knocking Ohio State, I think they are one of the elite programs. But surving the Big 10 is arguably (notice i said arguably thats my opinion) easier then surving the SEC. It just is. Plus the Big 10 does not even have to play a championship game, where LSU had to go beat (For the 2nd time) a top 5 team in their own state.

Ohio State was the National Champion the year before, no question. This year. LSU was clearly the best team in the Nation. USC ?? Please... Dont lose to unranked Cal, beat more the 1 top 25 team (Not even a top 1) and get back to us.

I realize that, but for lavalais to push the guard who, in turn, causes eli to trip equates to a little luck regardless of the paly by lavalais. just like the busted play in which skylar caught the winning TD agaisnt georgia. things just have to go your way throughout the season is in order to win the NC. case in point - remember the late night Hawaiii game that has such an influence on the RPI's?

This board is littered with overly optimitic fans. I realize that it is our right to have confidence in our team, but some of you are really delusional. Especially when it comes to the baseball team. There were people on here, before the baseball season even started, talking like LSU was a lock for Omaha. :dis:

Georgia was favored in both games we played last year and lost them both. We really spanked them in the SEC championship game. Now they are rated higher than us again this year. LSU is not particularly impressed. Sooner or later they have to beat LSU to remain in the top tier.

Thanks for the report on Ohio State. We don't get a lot of insight into Big-10 football down here.

And Michigan especially sucks for not beating Southern Cal last year. How somebody who beats the #4 team in the country can call themselves National Champions is beyond me.
