It's pretty obvious at this point that mett will be our qb next year but the battle for second qb seems to be very interesting now for next year. We have jerard randle a highly recruited qb who is very athletic , Stephen rivers kin of philip rivers who seems to have a ton of upside , and now our new hotshot 5-star qb gunner Kiel who seems like a young peyton manning. I can't even begin to speculate who CLM will like next year.

I think he likes them all. We will get a good look in the Spring game. :tigereye:

No way do I rush Kiel into playing time and Les (as we know) won't do so either. Les goes with experience at QB. The only way Kiel sees significant playing time will be due to injury or big time lack of execution by the starter.

I agree. Les will keep things very close to his vest about his starter until the time is right. I think he calls it an open competetition until a week or two before the season starts just to stir the pot and let competition act as a natural selector. All of this said, I think it will be as follows:

    Mett
Randall (Les likes his change of pace guy)
    Rivers
Kiel (gets a redshirt if we have no serious injury issues)

When do they announce the date for the Spring game? I have a buddy from my LSU years that wants to travel in from Miami with his little girl but may need some advanced notice to arrange travel plans.

While I have heard and seen good (although limited) things from Mett, I don't think he'll be "given" the job. Rivers and Randall are highly recruited QBs that have been in the system for a full year so it'll time for them to compete. Even if Kiel is as good as advertised, a red-shirt year seems to make sense.

I agree. No reason not to redshirt Kiel next year assuming no injuries.

Miles will definitely want a change of pace guy, and Randall is the only option there. That said, he may not be a true second string... Of course, we'll never know unless Mett gets hurt/held out.
