1. We have issues at QB. Russell came on late, but he is still young. He will have to get much better before conference play. 2. The defense will be alright. the wet field really hurt us tonight. I would expect our entire team to be much faster on a dry playing surface. 3. our o-line needs some work. we only rushed for 89 yards tonight, totally unacceptable come SEC time. maybe it was the wet field, I don't know. this must improve. 4. other teams think we are soft now. I have visited the other boards, and they are convinced they will roll LSU (mostly Georgia, Arkansas, and AUburn). They are all claiming OSU is the 5th best team in the PAC ten....well, that was last year. They also had the 7th best defense in the nation last year. I think this one plays into our hands. let other teams think we are soft (like their fans do after tonight's game) and let's see what the outcome is. 5. finally, we saw a team come together tonight in the face of adversity. they could have folded after the blown fourth and goal with 2:30 left, but they did not. overall, I will take the ugly win, but I am very reserved about many things surrounding our offense at the same time. Good game Tigers, way to play 60 minutes.
Totally agree with your post.... Let the other fans and football teams talk smack and all of that. They will get a big surprise when we play them then. Even Miami, FSU and all the top teams sometimes struggle with offense and a new qb, wr, etc. I've seen it too many times in the past.... I'm happy because this team showed alot of heart tonight and didn't give up.
I saw a Quarterback have a terrible game but, he did not keep his head down. He scored when we needed a score the most. We can't forget Rohan's story and even Matt Mauck's story. Josh Booty was starter and this kid named Rohan Davey came in and turned the program around. Well, the next year, Rohan gets hurt and this kid named Matt Mauck comes in and wins a National Championship. This year, Randall has a shakey start, and this kid named JaMarcus Russle comes in he ends up......... Overall, terrible game in the books, but win or lose, this team was a team, and will be a stronger team each week. Consider it a wake up call only instead of a loss, we got an ugly W
This team never gave up. As ugly as this W was they played for 60 minutes. I don't agree with all the talk of the wet field OSU played on the same field. Everytime they had a supposed advantage when we were on that side of the ball we had the same advantage.
Every team on the schedule is going to crowd the box until we find a QB that can hit a wide open reciever 5 yards down the field on a semi consistant basis. We also need Jimbo to do a much much better job of spreading the ball around with a pass to a tight end or full back at least once or twice a season. Overall I think OSU played a much better game than we did but we had the talent and enough will to win to pull it out in the end(not to mention luck). NO WAY this team should have played this poorly with the amount of talent on the roster, just no excuse for it. Lets hope we get a lot of holes fixed in the ship before we sail into SEC waters. I am very happy that the team never gave up and fought to the end and was therefore able to survive. Lots of work to do and I am looking forward to seeing a much improved product next week. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
