Not a lot of news on the women's recruiting front as to what Pokey will do as an encore to this year's fabulous frosh class which hopefully is a good sign. Pokey is one of the top assemblers of talent in the nation so their is reason to suspect that the adage "no news is good news" definitely applies here. From the class of 2005: Earnesia Williams Rumors have been circulating that this Oklahoma native is down to Oklahoma and LSU. She's 6'0" and has been a participant in all the major camps (NIKE, ALL STAR). The Texas fans have talked her up extensively and the Longhorns may also be in the running although their roster is rapidly brimming. Kyria Burford There were rumors off a Charlotte NC board that this 6'2" star was looking at playing in the SEC and that she was getting serious attention from LSU and Georgia. Burford led her NC Charlotte Victory school to national prominence but is leaving the team to complete her senior year in Florida. Erica Brown Brown is a 5'9" pg out of Ft. Lauderdale. I'm not sure what the likely hood of landing her is considering the depth of the pg spot for the Tigers, but if Pokey gets her, the Ericas (Brown and White) will provide one of the most colorful and talented backcourts in the nation. Stephanie Helgeson A big in-state kid, the 6'4" Helegeson participated in the Youth Devo fest and the Adidas camp this last summer. Her addition to the team would allow Fowles to get some breathers and help offset the loss of Tillie Willis and Crystal White down low. Aubrey Cook Another 6'3" post who participated in teh Youth Devo fest, Cook hails from Texas. Another recruit with size. Next year, after the 6'6" Fowles, LSu goes 6'1" with Jones and Bienakka, and 6'0" with Thomas so another tall rebounder would be nice. Aisha Jefferson A 6'1' F out of Ohio's nationally acclaimed Chaminade-Julienne HS, Jefferson also was at the Youth Devo Fest and is being highly recruited by Purdue and Kentucky as well as OSU. A nice addition as she would help provide a recruiting presence in the middle of basketball country. Kristen Morris The 6'2" forward is coming to Baton Rouge on October 23. Had a great showing at the Nike Festival. Class of 2006 According to the Texas Board, Niqky Hughes, a 5'10" guard, who made a big impression at the NIKE board is also interested in LSU.
LSU in Jefferson's final four. Aisha Jefferson has LSU, Boston College, Purdue, and Michigan State in her final four. Also, Kristin Morris, out of Michigan is visiting Baton Rouge on Oct. 23.
I am pretty sure there is a player out of Lake Charles who is 6'7 who I think is a senior although I don't know how good she is but at that height she might be worth a look. Anybody ever heard of her?
Keke Carrier Keshonda "KeKe" Carrier. She plays for Lake Charles and particiapted in the Youth Devo Fest. She's a project but she is 6'7" and you can't teac that. I think both Texas and Tennessee have backed off from her. I know she was looking at La Tech and Kansas and she also took a visit to Auburn, who just signed a 6'3" POINT GUARD in Dewanna Bonner. SHe wouldn't start over Sylvia and I think that if there is a chance that Steph Helgesen or Aubrey Cook might become a Lady Tiger, then Pokey will pass on Carrier. BUt who knows...she is a "local" girl and that can be nice also.
Even if you could develop her into a nice role player especially on the boards and the defensive side of the ball she may be worth a scholarship.
NoDakSt, that's a lot of great information you provided. I have never been to see a LSU women's bball game. I assume you have. Is the atmopshere good for the games?
I've never been to a game either. I've seen a few games on TV from the Pete center and their is a loyal but often small contingent of enthusiastic supporters. If you notice preseason publicity, the LSU sports dept. is really pushing Seimone in what could be her last season in Baton Rouge (she is scheduled to graduate early) as well as having a field day with Fowles. There have already been several articles in the Advocate and the LSU Revielle as well as other publications. Hopefully this hype will generate in increased fan support as folks show up to see Seimone's smooth moves and Fowles' attempt to "FLUSH IT".
Kristen Morris visits campus this weekend. 6'2" Kristen Morris is on campus this weekend. Hoep she enjoys her visit to Baton Rouge.

OK has already signed the Twins Paris so the competition at the "3" position may make Williams look elsewhere.
Earnesia Williams to Texas Texas pulled in Williams...and probably the top recruiting class of the year.
