Congrats, Dawgs

First off, congrats to the Dawgs and their fans for their win today. They were hands down the better team and I'll admit, up until today, I really wasn't impressed with UGA thus far this season. I actually thought that their #3 ranking was rather generous. But they really came out and just stuck it to us. The game was never close. The only thing I have a problem with was when Greene re-entered the game and they still kept passing. It's one thing if Shockley is back there passing, because as a backup, I can appreciate giving the kid some work. But not Greene. Maybe I'm just being a little sensitive on the subject, and perhaps he (Richt) wasn't trying to run up the score....

    Now for my rants....
Well, Tiger fans, we saw today how inexperienced and young of a team we have this year. Did I think, heading into the season, we'd be 5-0 at this point? Not really. In fact, if you would have told me that we would be 3-2 after the UGA game, I wouldn't have been all that irate--but I AM sore for the way we got absolutely DEMOLISHED today. :dis:

Our DB's couldn't cover left-overs with 50 yards of aluminum foil. Very disappointed with the play of Webster and especially Daniels today. But, the defense is not solely at fault. Turnovers are killer--and when we turned the ball over twice inside our own 50, resulting in 14 points right away coupled with the fact that we went 3-and-out on seemingly every one of our drives in the 1st quarter and early 2nd quarter, our defense was on the field WAY too long to really be much of a challenge come the 2nd half.

Secondly, Carter's lapse on his kickoff return in which he kneeled the ball at the 1 is just horrible. Yes, he's a freshman. Yes freshman WILL make mistakes, but it's NOT like he wasn't told by Addai to kneel it. That, in my opinion was the MAJOR turning point in the game. Prior to that, I thought our offense was starting to move the ball well, and our defense was finally starting to get some rest.

Not much else to say about this "woodshed beating"....but I hope we play with more intensity than what they showed today.

    :geaux:

Give Carter a break, freshman make mistakes.
That was in no way the turning point, the game was over at 24-00
We didn't score any more than 10 points end of story.....

    Give Georgia there do everyone................

I hate to say it but C Webb probably cost himself A LOT of money by coming back. It is one of the reasons I cannot fault players when they do leave early..while their stock is high. There is no doubt he will still be a wealthy man, but his stock is slipping. This was brought up by scouts before this game, and today he hurt his cause even further.
This is NOT a flame b/c I love the fact that he did have the fortitude to come back...there is just a risk involved and unless he turns it around it will cost him a pretty penny.

IMO, I dont think Richt was running up the score...I think we only scored once in the fourth quarter, and that was mostly on the legs of Thomas Brown. I can see how having Greene in the game that late would rub some the wrong way though.

LSU, you all have a good team, they just didn't seem to put it together today. Good luck the rest of the way.

Hey, good game. I know this one smarts.

The announcers said that Shock had some minor injury, so they put Greene in. FWIW, he was able to tie the all-time wins mark, so it's fair that he gets to enjoy as much of the game as sportsmanly possible. I seriously doubt Richt was trying to run it up on y'all.
Y'all are good fans and I hope those who made the trek to Athens enjoyed themselves in spite of the game's outcome. Good luck the rest of the way.

After that performance I think 2004 UGA = 2003 LSU.

From here on out I think I will prolly be a Georgia fan. If we can't win it all I would rather an SEC team to do it than someone else. UGA and Tennessee are who I would like to see....congrats on the very convincing win today Dawgs, you earned it....

    Greene's record

Greene tied the all-time UGA wins record, not the all time overall...he is still 3 short of Peyton Manning's 39

I disagree completely! Heading into halftime, down only 2 scores IS VERY MUCH in the game. WHat? You give up on a game in the 1st quarter?

At 24-10, and getting the ball back to start the 2nd half, which we did drive into UGA territory before the drive stalled, we were still in the game.

I know Carter's return came after UGA added to their score, but that's still just 17 down. And if you would have watched the Arkansas/Florida game, a game in which Arkansas was DOWN 35-7 at the half, yet came back to make the score 38-30 before throwing an INT in UF territory, you would still feel that being down only 17 (considering 14 of them were practically given to them with turnovers inside our own 50) wasn't something that was unreachable.

Yes, Carter's lapse turned out to be trivial based on the final score, but that really put us in a worse field position than what we had currently been in the entire game up to that point.

Congrats on the game. I too do not buy the running up the score argument..not just for this game but just about every game. We never quit trying to score or tried to make a comeback, so why should they lay down? Forget that, if our D cannot stop them then so be it. There were plenty of times when we knew they were going to run and their O line just blew us off the ball.

We have a very young offense--which after a game like today, is the only thing that keeps me from absolutely giving myself a stroke. Wilkerson will be the only starter (and I'm not counting Randall considering he didn't play 50% of the game I don't think) that we're losing.

This loss was tough. But I guess it makes it a little easier when it's at the hands of the #3 ranked team, and behind the arm of the SEC's future All-Time wins leader. Good luck to UGA the rest of the way.... How 'bout beating the stuffing out of Auburn for us???
