word here in the west is that Steve S has a son that is playing ball out here somewhere and he might come to the west coast to coach. Dont know where?? WASH, UCLA?????
99, I know you're one of the younger LSU fans on this forum. Do you remember SOS? While the Gator fans might be insane, they know their football. If you went from SOS to Zook you would post crazy comments/demands as well. These guys know SOS is back in town. It's like dangling a steak in front of Mike. I've been to the Swamp several times. The fans hate the guy. Zook is a horrible coach(yes I know they beat us last year with Zook)... I see why SOS demoted him to special teams coach back in the 90's.
I was at LSU from 93 to 99 and saw Spurrier come in and whoop some butt against LSU on many occasions during the nineties and saw him do the same to almost every other team, except Florida St, on a yearly basis. Sure he was a great coach back then and will be a force to be reckoned with ANYWHERE if/when he joins the college coachign ranks again. However, to call for the head coach's head mid-season and to vow against going to any more games in the meantime is just a tad bit over the top. I also remember where they came from, before he took over. I am sure that many Florida fans fear that they are slowly returning to those days. I just do not see it though. Florida is loaded with talent and has a lot of potential. If Zook can't get it done with a more mature and experienced team next year then perhaps THEN it will indeed be time for them to go into panic mode. One more thing about Spurrier... Since leaving UF he has called Florida fans "spoiled brats". Florida fans are demonstrating this very depiction right now. By the way, you can mention young in reference to me any time. It would never get old. I am getting up in age to where before I know it I am going to attain old fart status like some of you on here already have attained! :hihi:
Texas Tech sure does know how to get their first win against Nebraska in style don't they!? They had 70 with just under 8 minutes to go then they shut it down. Speaking of which, Nebraska ran off a good coach and now look where they are. 28 btw
speaking of fair weather fans, look at some of the arkansas boards. I can't belive how our fans are acting after the loss a couple of weeks ago. Alot of them are throwing in the towl already. But I guarentee you when we beat Auburn this weekend they'll be back on the boards talking SEC CHAMPS. I hate fair weather fans.....
Depends on your mindset...if you've watched Nebraska play under Solich, you can see there'e no way to compete against the OU's or UT's with that style of play. It just isn't conducive to today's style of football. Things are always different from an outside view so when most announcers or fans see NU still winning 9 games a season they think there's no need to fire a 'good' coach. I disagree..the goal is to compete for a NC when at a major university. Same goes for UT...although its one game they cant win every year, their fans know they wont even sniff a conference title much less a NC. If that was my school and I was AD, you're damn right I'd get rid of him. If NU or UT screws up and make 3 bad hires in the meantime, Id still be happy each are trying to get to the top of the mountain....otherwise you're settling for something less than best. UT's situation is so ironically clear due to Adrian Peterson, the UT stud, saying he chose not to go to his homestate school for that reason alone....then he singlehandedly beats UT.
