1. It’s possible we were somewhat above board throughout the process, but O has had this happen to him every year. From the outside this sure looks like a shortcoming, especially from a recruiting guru like O.

I’m ok with O playing hardball, but when you strikeout it looks bad.

  2. The other side of that coin is this: how many continued to look after the LSU offer? did they work hard to communicate their intent with the staff, etc? Lots we don’t know
  3. So what does this "strikeout" look like?

I'd say it included 4 players. We lost out on Burch and Evans and we got Webb and Dumervil.

Losing the 2 receivers to flips doesn't count because we had them and they burned us, happens almost every recruiting cycle.

Webb looks like a character issue and someone you may not want. We'll see how that pans out for Georgia. Remember the 5 for 5 from a few years back for LSU and we only got 2? It turned out at least 2 of the 3 we lost out on were complete duds.

If we can get a highly touted RB to replace Evans and another high profile player at a needed position to replace Burch, then all is well.

Overall I'm with you on turning these Louisiana kids away to get the bigger fish is playing with fire.

  4. I don’t know all the names, but I see Lee and Bryant decommitted; it looks like we got DTs but not as many DEs, and they went to FU and VT, respectively.

Dumping players to then miss on better players sucks. Maybe it’s a calculated risk, where losing both and having an open slot isn’t the worst result, especially with the transfer portal. Except O said he wouldn’t scout the transfer portal.
  5. The buzz is that we’re making a play for a scat back out of Georgia since he is one of the only strong RB talents left. Jahmyr Gibbs. Currently committed to GTech, but getting the press from a bunch of new teams now.
  6. We get an official visit from him later this month, I want to say the 17th.

We have a shot but all these teams late to the party are going to have a tough time prying him away from Gtech.
  7. Don’t disagree. Makes no sense.
