This is absurd...I no longer care about Nick Saban, and will never give a rat's a** if the Fins win or lose. I care about LSU and, with the little interest I have in pro ball, I root for the Saints.

Grow up, kid. New screen name for you--DavisFan?

I agree with all you have said. Saban was great for LSU and LSU was great for Saban. I am very greatful for all he did for LSU and the solid foundation we now have. I hated the yearly flirting with the NFL and the lies that followed. He is now gone and we are in great shape to hire a very good coach and continue the winning tradition started under Saban. Let's hope Skip really does a good job in his most important decision ever at LSU.

Is it obvious only to me that the reason it dragged out for so long is that Saban did not want to leave? Crawfish had good info that Saban had turned down the Dolphins. Huizenga, unlike Benson, wanted to do what he thought was best for his franchise so he literally chased Saban and threw money and perks at him until he just could not refuse. These mega million deals take time. Lots of time to go over contracts, revise wording, negotiate terms and have all parties come to an agreement. So Nick may have "agreed in principle" as early as yesterday? The agent still had to go over the contract with a fine tooth comb and ensure that his client wasn't getting shafted by some potential loophole. I'll say this (hopefully) for the last time: Nick Saban did nothing wrong here and does not deserve to be held in contempt, as he is by many here (not you, Red).

Won't happen. Saban will coach the bowl game. If not, he would not have made the trip to Orlando, he would have gone straight to Miami. We will probably debate whether he should coach the bowl game and that is certainly debatable. I say go ahead if all sides agree, which they apparently have. I don't know how the players will respond. I don't like the distraction at all, which argues for letting Saban go now, etc. Good points on both sides. Would have been nice for Saban to wait until after the bowl game. This didn't need to happen right now. This is why the NFL and even CFB suck sometimes. The money. Bleh.

I am with sabanfan on this one. Nick did great things for LSU for 5 years, and this is how we repay him? There is no loyalty to the coaches, there is only loyalty by the fans who worship at the holy grail of WINNING, because it makes them feel better. Do you think this is lost on the coaches. Nick took what he thinks is a better opportunity, after spending 5 great years rebuilding the LSU program.

Thank him, and start discussing our next coach.

For those who think the process was in some way flawed, 10 days does not seem long to cut such a deal, Nick never hid his fondness for an NFL job, all these deals go down at the end of the season, and you can't announce a deal before it is done, and you can't negotiate in public, and it happened to be XMAS day was the soonest he could make the decision and reasemble the team and tell them and it happened to be in Fla. He respected his players, and putting them before the fans in La. was correct.

Nick, goodbye and good luck. Unlike Sabanfan, I will not watch the dolphins. I don't watch the NFL, and Nick is not enough to get me to do it.

After folks get control of their emotions.

After folks get control of their emotions, SF, I think that they will agree with you. I agree with you right now, but I admit that I am crushed, depressed, and completely fatalistic about our LSU football future. I fear that we will be re-building the whole dang program. I fear that we are right back to 1998.

At lease we have a BCS NC and two SEC Championships to show for it.

No way!!!!!!!! Thats one thing we have to thank Saban for, this program is on solid solid ground and many a coach out there would love to step into Sabans shoes. We now have facilities second to none and talent galore. We now have a winning tradition and coaches can see that you can be very very successful here. I think some here are confusing the anger at how Saban left with being ungrateful for what he did for LSU football when they are two separate things. No one can deny that Saban did wonderful things here during his five years and that Tiger fans should be very grateful for him rebuilding our program.

Well....I agree that Saban is still a great coach and we should forever be grateful but I am not going to blindly support him. Its obvious this decision had been made and like he said, he wanted to tell the team first. Jean Lafitte spelled out this EXACT scenario yesterday and he was dead on.

All the speculation and Crayfish junk was nothing but viewing the situation with purple and gold colored glasses. :(

If Saban was agonizing over the decision to leave, why was he secretly interviewing for almost every open NFL head coaching job the last few years. He stated in his speech tonight that his ambitions always led him to new challenges. He was looking for the next challenge ever since he arrived on campus.
