I read where Kyle Anderson said a bunch of schools have called him since Saban's announcement. I thought we were in a dead period and this was against regulations. Looks like Butch Davis is definitely out, which appears to put Petrino #1 on the most likely list. I wouldn't mind hiring whoever wins the Liberty Bowl: Petrino or Hawkins. I don't think we'll hire Tuberville, but Tuberville "agreeing in terms" and saying he is not interested doesn't mean much to me. Since when did the words coming out of Tuberville's mouth become believable. It is Dandy Don's belief that Bobby Petrino, Les Myles and Jack Del Rio are the three leading candidates, but he could be way off. Don also writes, "There are some reports that Steve Spurrier who was hired by South Carolina about six weeks ago might be interested in switching from South Carolina to LSU, but I do not believe that is accurate information. I also learned late Monday night that Rich Rodriquez, head coach at West Virginia, and Mike Nolan, the defensive coordinator of the Ravens in the NFL who coached at LSU with Bill Arnsparger and is the son of Dick Nolan who coached a few years at New Orleans, will be interviewed for the job. I really like all the names that I have been hearing."
No offense to Mike Nolan personally, but the most striking memory I have of his dad was him sitting on a bench in the locker room, smoking a cigarette and trying to answer questions from reporters after the Saints missed the playoffs yet again (I think it was 1979). That's what the name Nolan makes me think of.
Well, the guy has been a defensive coordinator in the NFL for over a decade with some impressive results and he has coached at LSU. I would like him as a choice.
Straight from DDon's website today: This seems to allow phone calls, unless I'm missing something here.
