Okay, TT. It did sound to me as if you were slamming Saban. It seems that when coaches are fired, it is done with time left in the season so that a replacement can be locked up early - before the successful programs such as that of Saban have a need due to the successful coach moving on to a better job. Even in situations where coaches are not fired prior to the last game, often the school had already decided and initiated their search process on the sly... So, I think it tends to me more of a function of the success of the coach and the program. Aren't we all glad that we weren't in a situation in which Saban had failed and we fired him in late October or early November, and, as a result, could have had a shot at some of the really big names? I'd much rather have had the championships and lose our coach due to success - even if it means we get beaten to the punch by the Floridas, Notre Dames, and South Carolinas of the college football world.
Possibly true, I should delete that, that one comment has nothing to do with the over purpose of my post.
In all seriousness, I feel pretty good about how this turned out. I was initially hopeful of Petrino, but I think we avoided a lot of heartburn by not getting him. Perhaps that interview with Skip revealed something that Cardinal fans know about. I think we have ourselves a coach who is happy with the opportunity and will give his all in the cause of LSU. The only thing that remains to be seen is his ability to apply the desire and emotion he brings to the x's and o's of the football field. LSU has given him the tools, let's watch the man perform his craft. I for one am excited. :thumb:
GREAT post. I think it sums up pretty much how I feel but I have to agree on the Michigan thing. Not too worried about the NFL but he clearly left the door WIDE OPEN in regards to Michigan. Lets just hope Carr stays a good while longer so Les Miles can bury his roots deep in LSU football.
It's in his blood! Don't be surprised. Les, I believe Stillwater and Baton Rouge are that way, waaaayyyyyyyyy down south. Just remember were your heart is.
