I saw a SuperBowl highlight film from NFL Films this week, and Dave Campo was the Defensive Backs coach for one of Jimmy Johnson's Dallas Cowboys teams.

Coach Campeaux may have been later promoted to DC, but he was the Defensive Backs coach for Jimmy Johnson, and, yes, Coach Campeaux has more than one SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP RING for all of you high school players who are considering LSU.

There is no where on Dandy’s site that states that he is going to be the new DC. It states that it has been reported by the Houston Chronicle and on 2 Baton Rouge TV Stations that he could be the new DC for LSU. We can only wait until next week to see if it is true or not.

Dandy's idea of being announced is that some radio, tv or internet guy said it publicly. It has not been "announced" as most people interpret that word to mean, which would be by LSU.

Just heard on AM 610 here in Houston where Mike Scarborough (rivals/tigerbait.com) was interviewed that Dave Campo WILL be the next LSU DC.

Also just read on rivals, in a "post conference" interview, Bennett said when he was here, he spoke to one of the assistant basketball coaches (didn't give the name) about the possibility of playing basketball and our coach said, "I've never even seen you play".

Please don't ever.....EVER let me find out who that coach was because whatever rock he's been lying under (since he obviously doesn't have internet access, at the least, to look up Bennett), I will personally knock his ignorant a$$ back under said rock. :angryfire

I'm pretty sure that Campo was not a DC on any of the Super Bowl Teams. If my memory is correct, Campo became DC after Butch Davis went to the Canes (1996, I believe). He was a good defensive coordinator who put together some pretty good units with much less talent than Wannstedt or Davis had. He just didn't have the personality to be a good head coach. Of course, Jerry Jones didn't want a head coach; he just had to give the title to someone.

The only other info I have heard about Campo's Cowboy days was about his relationship with Jimmy Johnson. JJ was a first class jerk of course. Early on at Dallas the coaches were at some staff function and some incident occurred with JJ and DC. JJ reportedly directed some slurs at Campo. The dispute didn't really go anywhere, but ended with JJ patting Campo on the head in an apologetic, yet still demeaning way.
