Just saw the so called "punch" at the yankees/red sox game. That guy slapped at the ball and was about 2 feet in front of the yankee player. What a crock. Makes me wonder, has LSU had any fan/player incidents?

It really looked to me more like the guy was yakking to his buddy and not paying attention to what was going on. It looked like he reached over the fence to point something out to his buddy just as Sheffield arrived to field
the ball. Did his hand inadvertantly strike Sheffield? The replay was inconclusive, but judging from Sheffield's reaction, apparently it did. I can see
how, with it happening all so fast, Sheffield might have thought it was intentional, but looking at the replay over and over again, I really don't think so.

Warren Morris interfered on Miami's Championship Run.

As for the incident last night - can we get a point of reference here. It was in Boston, America's arm pit of people. The guy was out of line and he was trying to distract Sheffield. Also, the guy to the left (although quite masterfully) managed to get his entire beer onto Sheffield and make it look accidental. I think the guy who touched him was actually trying to knock his cap off. Boston sucks and they pride themselves on being complete trash.

Has Sheffield ever done anything like this before? No.

I hope Boston wins another WS so that the fans will burn the city to the ground.

There were about 5 beers involved, but if you see it again, watch the guy on the left quickly dump his beer "at" Sheff...

Here is a link to watch the incident. The announcers break it down nice and simple for you. The fan had malicious intent and if you can't see that you need help.

Also, when it goes to slow motion, watch the Boston Scumbag on the left in the GAP Sweatshirt - he takes a sip of his beer and then deposits it on Sheffield.

Don't defend these Boston idiots because you hate the Yankees - that's lame...

    Watch the Incident

The beer was thrown before he was knocked down.

I'll agree that it looked as if he was trying to knock off his hat.

I'm a big fan of calling things as I see them - how can anyone watch the incident and not clearly see what took place.

People want to keep baseball an intimate, fan-inclusive sport. This doesn't help. If people want the ability to sit eye-level with the players they need to act appropriately.

What makes it worse is that people will turn this into a Sox / Yanks thing and take sides. That sucks. People in Boston are the scum of the earth - this has been my personal experience. However, this incident has plenty enough video evidence to keep it from being a biased outlook...

i can't believe that some of you think that the fan wasnt trying to interfere with the play. he was obviously trying to distract or hit sheff. the ball was two or three feet under his hand.

i HATE the Yankees so much and I wanted the red sox to win, but that was just stupid by the fan.

and it does look like that guy just threw the beer on him.
