yes, but the name still stikes fear into the heart of many! hah, j/k but seriously, a team that normally doesnt play Navy would be a good thing for that team, giving some kind of national recognition... its like beating notre dame... are they that good? no, but its the name they carry, and the tradition. ?
Navy was 10-2 last year, won a bowl game and finished in the Top 25 in both polls. Granted that's no guarantee that this years or future year Navy teams will be that successful. I'd take the Midshipmen over some of the cripples that are on this years and out year LSU schedules.
teams that beat notre dame dont get nationally recognized. notre dame is nationally recognized as being mediocre as of late. not trying to argue with you personally...but i respectfully disagree with your point. I think playing Navy would be cool and that it may be televised...but It wouldn't get national press just because it has never happened before. Nobody in michigan will talk about the LSU-Navy at the end of the year and say, "wasnt that just neat? Im glad we watched that game, because the two had never played before"
haha ok good point... lol it doesnt mean I dont think they shouldnt play... because that would be a fun fun game... for me at least... I could make fun of all the academy officers I know on my ship about my school's team spanking them like air force bitches... haha
It's not easy for an Air Force vet living a stones throw from the Air Force Academy to praise the Middies. The Middies are the top service academy football program as I write this but I'm sure Fisher DeBerry is scheming how to get the Commander's in Chief trophy back to Colorado Springs where it belongs.
Anyone who's been to Annapolis or West Point should easily see why these are extremely desirable raod games. I think a game a FedEx beats Navy Marine Corp Stadium, but I wouldn't give up the Hudson date for Meadowlands.
we are now mortal enemies, prepare to battle. :angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire
From my perspective, just one week of the year. The one thing we have in common is we are Tiger fans 52 weeks of the year. :thumb:
