I wish that was true, however, St. Urban's stock will take a hit after Wyoming gives the Gators a game and Tennessee beats them. We MAY get attention after bopping Tennesse, but I'm betting that media will then bank on MSU or Vandy upsetting us and then comment on who tough playing Florida nand Alabama Poly on successive weeks will be. After we run the table, the comments will then be Miles needs to prove himself with his talent. Now if Urban were our coach...

If we do win those two games, then we would definetily be in the top 5. We SHOULD win the gimmies (app. st, MSU, etc.). The only problem is when we do play those easy games, if we win by 49, we won't move, we will stay the same in all polls.

I wonder how UF fans will react when meyer goes 8-3 at best and finishes 3rd in the East.

Add in a close USC/UF game at USC and things could get interesting

You're right. If the preseason mags are any indication, LSU should start anywhere from #7-10 in the first "real" polls. Let's hope Tennessee beats Florida in Gainsville. Arizona St. will (hopefully) be ranked somewhere in the 20-25 range when they play LSU, Tennessee in the top 5 after a win over Florida when they play LSU, and Florida riding a 3 game winning streak (including, hopefully, a win in Tuscaloosa against a ranked and 4-0 Alabama team) comes to Baton Rouge in the top 12 with a 5-1 record.

Come Sunday, October 16, if LSU is 6-0 with wins over (at the time they play LSU) a #22 Arizona State, a #4 Tennessee, and a #12 Florida, the Tigers will at least be #4...with a very good chance that their opponent on October 22, Auburn, will be 6-0 and in the top 10.

This is a best-case scenario, of course, but it's not too outlandish. Actually, a best case is Georgia punks Florida and Tennessee in the East, wins the division, and faces LSU in the SEC CG.

Beating Florida, Tennessee, defending West division and SEC champ Auburn and new East division champ Georgia in Atlanta--as well as a non-conf win over a Pac-10 team that should finish top 3-4 in that conference...damn, that's a resume that'll be hard for any other national title contender to match, IMO.

Plus Auburn should be 6-0 and ranked when they roll into LSU for their beating.

The strange thing about the pre-season polls is that both Florida and Tennessee are over-hyped.

I really don't think that Tennessee is going to easily beat Florida. And if that game is close, the media is going to rave that it was a showdown of two top programs and continue on with the false rankings.

LSU has to be careful that they don't get too conservative with either Florida or Tennessee or it could come back to haunt LSU in the national polls in late November.

If Tenn beats Florida, they will be looked upon as an Elite team back in the NC hunt.

If Florida beats UT, Meyer is a God still and can't ever, ever lose.

Either way, one will die and the other will rise way too high
