Seriously, other than LSU beating Bama, there is nothing I'd like more than

Do you ever hear talk of re-naming the conference? Big 10 with 11 teams now...with 12 you can't go Big-12...

You are right in that a South Carolina victory would be a big meltdown for the Florida nation.

They wont admit it but they want this game more than any this year.

Dont think that Spurrier doesnt want to win this baby either.

The ole ball coach will downplay it but he wants this one bad.

That is going to be a juiced crowd . Rafael Palmeiro is said to be setting up a stand to give out b12 shots to the Gamecock fans.

Alot of great games in the SEC this week.

I always thought that Memphis would be a better West rival than Arkansas. Possibly Southern Miss, although that would give Pississippi 3 schools.

Georgia Tech would be a welcomed addition to the SEC if someone left, but I really don't think we should expand any further.

There is a reason Mphs wasn't considered during the expansion. At that time, it was still Mphs State. To be considered a University a school has to have 7 main schools. (IE: Journalism, English, Math, etc.) At that time, the school hadn't reached the University status.

They would have been a fun addition when it comes to basketball...but it would have been just another doormat in the SECW. $ wise, it would't have added a thing. Heck, I don't think they even sell out the Liberty Bowl in their home games.

A few years ago, the Chicago Sun-Times did a "Rename the Big Ten" thingy and "The Great Lakes Conference" won... as all states but Iowa touch a Great Lake. It was also at the time when we had given up on getting ND, the ACC was invading the Big East, and there was talk of luring Syracuse (another Great Lake school).
I personally like the idea of adding Syracuse .... good basketball ... an old rival for Penn State... and a good draw for eastern press and TV market.

I have never really considered Arky an SEC school. It just isn't something that seems right or natural.

After the anemic games last week, this week is feeling like "bowl day" with great matchups all over for all sorts of reasons!

Bad week for DUI. south carolina lost their long snapper for this game. That has the potential to be a very bad development for CSS.

USC long snapper Scott Morgan has been suspended indefinitely following his DUI arrest early Sunday morning eight hours after the team returned from Arkansas.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said Monday that he would have an update on Morgan’s status later in the week.
“He wasn’t out here (at Monday’s practice),” Spurrier said. “He’s off for a while, and we’ll re-evaluate his situation.”
Morgan, 21, a junior walk-on from North Augusta, was found passed out behind the wheel of a Pontiac Grand Prix at the intersection of Elmwood and Assembly streets at 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a Columbia Police Department incident report.
Columbia police officer David Dechane noticed the car that Morgan was driving did not move when the light turned green. When Dechane woke Morgan and asked him to put the car in park, Morgan put the car in reverse and took his foot off the brake. Dechane put the car in park before arresting Morgan.
Morgan’s blood-alcohol level was measured at .13 in a breath test, according to the report. The legal limit in South Carolina is .08. He also was charged with having an open container in a moving vehicle after Dechane spotted an open bottle of liquor in plain view in the back seat.
Spurrier said Ike Crofoot, who snaps for punts, could take over for Morgan in snapping for extra points and field goals, as well. Brett Nichols then would step in for Crofoot as the holder, if necessary.
Also, Spurrier said defensive end Josh Johnson has been dismissed from the team. Johnson, a sophomore who started the Gamecocks’ first three games, was suspended in October following his second arrest in a six-month span.
Johnson, who was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and two other counts following an altercation in Five Points, is the sixth player to be dismissed for disciplinary reasons this year.
“I hear he’s still around and going to school,” Spurrier said of Johnson. “I hope he’ll finish up and transfer. That’s what we hope for all of our guys that are no longer with us.”

heh.. 30-19 USC 4 minutes to go. Say what you want about his attitude etc, but the man can coach a college football team flat out. I'm not one to yearn over what could have been, and don't buy a lot of the 'can you imagine our offense with so and so' talk..most of it is bs. But other than Norm Chow, can you imagine anyone coaching our O to a more kickass level than Spurrier??
