I understand where you are coming from kteam and I have some of your same feelings. however this is my gripe with negative fans. coach Saban was the savior of LSU football and had the privilege of following a bunch of losers. Miles does not have that privilege. His coaching style is different than the savior and some fans can not handle it. Miles has taken this team through two hurricanes and brought in a new coaching staff that did not have a clue about the players(personalities and attitudes). They are some how 10-1 and have a great chance at winning the SECC. And some fans continue to be negative.
Negativity is like a contagious disease, if the fans are all negative and bad mouthing the coach then sooner or later that negativity will infect the team. I have bad thoughts like "I can not believe that idiot called that play" but I am not going to spew it all over the WWW for the players and the world to see. This is why I will squash any negativity and replace it with as much optimism as I can. The next time you hear coach Miles speak listen for him to say anything negative. I promise you he will not! He is always looking forward and thinking positive. So lets follow our coaches lead and think positive! :thumb:

As another outsider, who watched Saban coach at Michigan State as well as LSU... some thoughts.

Saban has charisma. He looks good... even your girlfriends start liking football more. He has class, which makes the programs he associates with... classy.
He can recruit... kids like him and their parents do, too.
It is almost impossible for his replacement, any replacement, to be all those things day one or, perhaps, any day.
However, Saban was NOT a great gameday, on the field coach. Hell, look at the decisions made in the Iowa game if you need a refresher course. He wasn't a great gameday coach in the Big Ten either.
Saban and LSU (and I hate to position it this way) had a lot of things go right the year you made it to the BCS Championship game. You weren't lucky to win that game... you won it by outplaying Oklahoma... but you did have a few breaks just to get there... with that luck, Saban gained Sainthood.

So, basically, Miles will HAVE TO win a national championship to even get to sit at the same table with Saban and/or Saban's fans... and he damn sure better do it in five years or less, right?
Tough shoes to step into... tough fans... now spoiled by success... tough row to hoe, as we say in Iowa.

"The dark side of success is arrogance."

What are you people gonna do when we go 4-7? I'm not the happiest guy in the world but we better act happy and enjoy what the tigers are doing right now. We're freaking 10-1 and the bit[hing is out of control. I feel sorry for Les because he's 10-1 and nobody likes him. If he go's 4-7 or even 8-3 he will be assassinated.

You are very right. Saban came in behind a bunch of losers and started winning some games. Then he got lucky, and it was luck for us to beat Georgia & Ole Miss in 03 much less actually make it into the NC game with a loss to Florida, and won the national championship, which gave him "sainthood". He was not the great coach many imagine. (PS: Miles has thus far matched Saban's greatest season here. Think about that.)

Now Miles steps in behind St. Nick & does things a little differently, a little more relaxed. But because it's not St. Nick's method, that means Miles doesn't care and that means our team doesn't care and that's why they make mistakes. Which is stupid because it couldn't be Saban's fault when players made mistakes, since he chewed them out and all... :dis:

To be honest, I've seen less coaching mistakes under Miles than I saw under Saban. Miles calling a timeout after an interception is the worst thing I've seen him do, and that was his first night in Tiger Stadium when he was very excited, so I don't care too much about it. The playcalling and game time decisions have been very good IMO.

I agree. Instead of enjoying football conversion on here now, I've settled for arguing with the negativity.

    What he said.

I don't know how many times it needs to be said. Saban did not leave this team developed. He left talent, but nothing that had produced.

Hawker and CParso just laid it down proper for some of these fools. Problem is, many of the fools are too foolish to comprehend. Good work, fellas!

I was thinking about that too. What if he pulls a Gerry D and goes 4-7? If we're talking like this being 10-1, the death count might go up in the BR.

I'm calling BULL$#IT. Before 2003, we didn't "know it would work" and think Saban was the best coach in the country. We thought he was an okay coach that was brining LSU in the right direction. Last season, plenty of complaints could be heard about the coaching staff - one year after a national championship, no less.

Look at what that fear has done to other top programs. All of a sudden, fans start thinking they are entitled to the best coach & want to get rid of coaches who win at their program. Then no coaches want to go there & the program slides into mediocrity. So, ironically, your fear & negativity although aimed at keeping LSU on top, is not helping. If anything, it will lead to a decline in our program.
