Another subpar outing in a crucial SEC tilt.
We won in spite of him, not because of him.
Here are some key points:
1) It's amazing how inaccurate this kid is with his passes. Receivers still making circus catches look rather routine more times than not. Early Doucet saved his ass with a pass poorly thrown intended for Bowe, who would not have been able to make the catch because it was too far behind him.
what about receiver drops, bowe had some, davis had some. what do you bet those even out
2) Has absolutely no football instincts. Functions merely on talent. Case in point, the 2nd down play inside the 10 on the last drive, doesn't see that he has a clear path to run it in, then when he does decide to run, has no idea how close he is to the sideline. He really thought he ran it in for a TD. Ever since he's learned to put some air under the ball, he never seems to know when to let it rip (case in point, throw down the sideline to Davis)
football instincts? like driving his team down while milking the clock, damn wish we could have seen some of THAT! ur nitpicking about maybe 3 inches, probably less on that run. id think id run it in too, and im pretty sure you would too. theres a lot of reasons to call someone an idiot, i really dont think that is one of them. on the davis throw, if he had zipped it, davis would have had to turn around and still would have gotten shelacked by the safety or would have been discombobulated and might have dropped it. the angle wasnt right for a zip ball, it was to be lofted. it is called making a clutch catch, i love davis but that was his fault, you gotta make the tough catch
3) Still doesn't come anywhere close to being able to reading defenses.
you mean like waiting in the pocket which you criticized him for in the last point you made. if he runs it on the last play, high probability that he doesnt make it and were left with zilch for time. instead, he waits, bounces, turns, finds, and shoots. beautiful in my opinion. he did it all day when he had time except for the bowe INT where he didnt see the DE's zone drop
That being said, hats off to him hanging in after putting us in the hole that we were in. I applaud him for the gutsy runs, especially.
you mean his football instincts?
Unfortunately, another outing like this versus Arkansas will NOT result in a W.
and itd be all jamarcus's fault if we had that many killer penalties and allowed two big touchdown passes.
I just hope he finally has "that game" we've been waiting 3 years for him to play.
id say arizona state was a pretty good case of "that game" as well as the alabama game. do you really expect some sort of 300 yard, 3 TD, no INT, 75% completion game? in the SEC? he has had those but not against the opponents you would likely consider "legitimate" defenses. you know why he hasnt had "those games" against "legitimate" defenses???
....because they are legitimate defenses
