That was Pat Forde (pronounced Four-day). He brought up some very good points and did an analysis of Big East vs the other BCS conferences against the same competition and how the Big East compared favorably.
Indeed. AU has much the same issue. For example, this year we had a great opportunity for a MNC run, with LSU, UF, and UGA at Jordan-Hare. But next season, we have those same opponents at their houses .... a tough schedule to handle, even with the best of squads. It's likely more a function of the scheduling being engineered years in advance, not being able to forecast which teams will be strong or weak in a particular season.
Yeah, when I think of traditional football powerhouses, Louisville and Rutgers immediately come to mind. :dis:
Simple to say, hard to do---the whole reason for the current schedule and rotation can be summed up in three words: Alabama versus Tennessee Because both Ala and UT want to play every year, befitting the series' standing as one of the South's oldest, the current system of having 1 "permanent" opponent from the other division was born...LSU's bad luck was in getting Florida. Every. Single. Season. Yuck. :nope:
You're forgetting about UGA/Auburn, yunno... the oldest rivalry in the South? I don't care if we get UF every year. What I hate is playing at Auburn and at UF the SAME year. IT got screwed up a few years back..... Only poonannies complain about having to play tough opponents.
What team from the West is lucky enough to play Vanderbilt every year, and what team in the East is lucky enough to play Miss. State?
I agree with this... and it's not even because of how challenging it is to win in an away game against some of these teams - it makes the home schedule in the se even-numbered years pretty crappy in comparison to the odd-numbered ones. It'd be great to know that we'd have a home game against either Auburn or Florida each and every year.
