You don't really believe that Saban left because of "differences" with Bertman? The guy has happy feet.

I said "might". It certainly didn't help matters.

Jimmy Ott says Bertman was known for doing things like bringing cell phone bills to Saban, for example.

he needs to shut up the day after a huge win for LSU. If UM comes calling and Bertman isn't willing to pay, Miles will leave.

carr could decide to retire tomorrow, and guess who the first choice will be?

we don't need that, especially not after Saban is hired at Bama.

If the Top 5 pay quote is accurate then Miles is very happy that Saban is at bama. Saban was hired before the LSU season was finished, I would think that Miles moved up a notch to be in the top 5, if he wasn't already there.

I don't have a problem with coaching salaries. This is America, and we reward excellence. As much as those Hollyweird liberals try to convince us otherwise, we do not live in a communist state.

And, football is a major cash generator for colleges. Its not like these football programs are bankrupting the university. As long as that remains true, then I have no problem with increasing salaries to make it competitive. The college game is better now that Saban has returned. And, ND is better that it signed Weis to that ten year extension. Otherwise, the NY Giants would have swooped in and hired him as their head coach.

Plus, I would like to point out that Weis has already paid for his ten year extension by getting ND into two consecutive BCS Bowl games his first two years. Since ND is not in a conference, it doesn't have to split that money up with any other teams.

After last night, he'll have to actually earn another trip to BCS land.

At Notre Dame, they even reward mediocrity! And I bet a lot of insiders are regretting that extension.

ND will always get into a BCS game if it only loses two or three games with its national following. Next year, there will be too much turnover. But, with Clausen, ND should be playing in another BCS game a year or two after that.

Weis has done an amazing job, given the talent Ty Willingham left him at ND. Willingham was too busy playing golf to recruit the players ND needs. Give Weis a few years to start getting his own players, and ND will soon be playing for a NC.
