Heat is right, I was meaning more of a new defensive philosophy and teaching technique than Dorsey learning a new method of playing DT. There is always an unknown factor when a new coordinator comes aboard. Kind of like the unknown factor in going into a combine with an minor injury and wondering how your performance will hurt/help your draft stock.

I was/am hoping Dorsey had a wink and a nod from Pelini that he will be back to coach the defense in case Dorsey decided to come back and lead that defense. I think Pelini can pick his HC job next year if his is defense is, again as good as advertised. And no, it wont be likes of Rice, UAB or Minnesota in my opinion.

With Dorsey back, the DL should be more dominating than this year, the linebackers are now a year older and smarter and the secondary should be able to hold their own with the DL pushing up the field. Should have one of the best defenses LSU has ever had next year... if Pelini stays.

Rice, Tulane, Duke and the military schools aren't places to kick off your head coaching career when you are one of the highest paid coordinators in the nation. Maybe, if he was an up and comer but his name is out there already, so I doubt very seriously Rice is on his mind. He'll get his opportunity soon enough, since it's safe to say he'll have another good defense for a few years. Rice would probably give him $500K but I doubt it would be much more than that. Now, I think Minnesota could provide more money and is in a BCS conference, so I'm sure he'll be listening to what they have to say.

Exactly! ....Minnesota is a big time school. He would get recruits and its a school that gets airplay! Minnesota I think would be a good place for him...but at the same time WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE SOMETHING WHERE YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD CHANCE OF MAKING IT FAR NEXT SEASON! If he stayed next year I believe he would get better offers next year.LSU!

Rice would be a huge step down. Keep in mind, this is the same school that almost terminated their football program, and were going to put it up for vote BY THE FACULTY.

It's a wretched program, with no support from faculty, administration or alumni.

No doubt Rice is listing Pelini on it's hopeful list, but it has been stated before that Pelini has his sights set on a head coaching position somewhere with more prestiege than what Rice could offer.

Now, Jimbo's sights are set high as well, and it's yet to be seen if either one of them eventually lower their expectations, but Jimbo made the move to FSU because Bowden is expected to retire in a few years (if not next) and taking a lateral move in position (from LSU OC to FSU OC) this year gives Jimbo "a foot in the door"...Or so he is hoping.

I would worry more about Pelini getting interviewed for the Minnesota job (if it's still vacant--I haven't kept up with that one) over Rice.

That job is still open. Some folks think they're holding it open for Dungy (which seems unlikely to me.) Gary Barnett has apparently expressed interest as well.

No word on whether Craig T Nelson was called back for a second interview.

Just heard on ESPN radio that the Minnesota job was just filled today (although I didn't catch who they filled it with...)

Just found it. Brewster from Denver. Looks as though Pelini didn't make their final 3. Oh well, great for us! :thumb:
