i would hope that miles wouldn't run the program with this reasoning. i don't think our recruiting class will look very good if top prospects think if they are better than the person in front of them they will sit the bench because someone else has been waiting for the starting job. the better player should start and if he doesn't then the coach isn't doing his job. if rp is as good as has been said then he should seperate himself from flynn, if he doesn't then he hasn't lived up to being the #1 player coming out of high school. i've seen many players on teams around the country making a big impact as a true freshman, the coach needs to play the guy who gives us the best chance of winning, if not then he needs to go coach somewhere else.

That's not right my friend. Coach Miles chooses the best and puts them on the field, but at the same time, he has loyalty to his senior players. A proof is Les Miles played 2 True freshmen at RB while he also gave carries to Justin Vincent and Broussasrd. That's the type of coach that I want to have, loyal to his players. Miles wants his players to have a bright future, if he hadnt played Vincent last season, what will be Vincent's football future do you think? But because he gave him a chance, now Vincent CAN have a future in football.
I think if Perrilloux is better than Flynn, he's only slightly better. And that's why I think Miles will let Flynn start. Now if Perrilloux shows he is MUCH better than Flynn in practice, or Flynn screws up big time when the season starts, Im sure Miles will give Perrilloux the chance.

If Perilloux is going to make his move, spring is the time. He has to separate himself substantially or he will be the reserve in August. A very active reserve, I expect. They say he's deadly in the red zone an I expect Crowton to use him.

i don't think you and a few others understand my point. if laron felt that he would sit the bench and not be a starter if he showed the skills and determination he may have followed his brother or went elsewhere. top players like him expect that if they put the work in and are the player that gives the team the best chance to win that thewy will play. if you think justin only played because of loyalty i guess you haven't followed his time here. if rp gives lsu the best chance of winning he will be the starter, regardless of seniority, if flynn is the starter it won't be because of loyalty. with that said flynn's time here may be a big factor which leads to him giving lsu the best chance of winning which would be why he is the starter. please read what i wrote, i didn't say the player with the most talent will start, i said the player which gives lsu the best chance of winning will start. from the reports i've read rp has a chance to start because of his talent but needs to show he can lead this team, if he can show miles he can do that then he will be the starter no matter how many years flynn has been here.

 Russell only played till halftime in blowout games. The other games he played full time are games like Auburn, Florida, TN, Arkansas and Ole Miss. Do you prefer they put up Flynn instead??:hihi:

Which is exactly right. The starter will need the lions share of 1st team reps in August. We have a new offense and August isnt the time to split reps among 2 QB's. Probably the first week or two Miles will say its an open race but after that one of them will be getting the vast majority of 1st team reps.

I thought earlier in the season last year, the offense was not as quick in jumping on the opponents and scoring big early on to allow the mop up players to come in to play; at least that was my perception as I was dying to see more of Flynn and/or Perrilleoux in the game for them to get more needed experience.

I think it was like 122-20 and LSU owned the first quarter. The Arizona game was ova after the first quarter, but despite the blowout with UL and Fresno, it seemed like we had a hard time getting started but I could very well be wrong and don't remember the scoring by quarters.

    I'm sure someone does. :thumb:

I was at the Fresno game, and it wasn't until the second half that we really pulled away. The game was never close, but the offense did sorta struggle. Davis returned a punt for a touchdown, which made it seem more like a blowout. Bowe also had the most beautiful run after catch I've ever seen. For some reason, when he caught it, I told my wife "That's 6", even though he was nowhere near the endzone, and defenders were all behind him. He just made some awesome moves to get into the end zone.:geauxtige
