Hey guys... I'm coming down for the game again this year. When we came down in '05 we drove in the day of the game and drove through the night back to Auburn. I refuse to do that again as that was A LOT of driving in one day, not to mention I just don't feel comfortable driving through the night again.

Anyways, I've been looking at hotels to book and was hoping you guys could give me some information on the areas around Baton Rouge. As in, which areas are nice to stay in, and which ones are sketchy, etc.

My girlfriend is coming with me so I don't want to get stuck in a bad area or anything like that.

    So far I have found:

La Quinta on S Acadian Thruway

La Quinta Seigan Ln on Reiger Rd

    Comfort Inn on Constitution Ave

Best Western Chateau on Lobdell Ave.

    Any suggestions??

Check out the Downtown area. There are some new hotels in the area and nightlife within walking distance.

Also The Cook Hotel on campus could have some rooms available.

La Quinta on Acadian is closest to LSU and not in a bad neighborhood. It is across the street from T.J. Ribs, a very popular game day BBQ restaurant. Billy Cannon's Heisman trophy and Shaq's shoes are on deisplay. There is also a Marriot Courtyard across the interstate at that intersection which has an Outback and a Texas Steakhouse nearby. A popular live-music nightclub, The Caterie, is a block away, the best Creole restaurant in town, Jubans, is near the Caterie, and Parrains seafood is only two blocks away.

LSU is a straight shot down Stanford avenue. Too far to walk on game day but a short drive.

Best Western Chateau on Lobdell is in the demilitarized zone. I'd pass.

I would stay away from the La Quinta on Acadian. It is not a nice place at all. The Comfort on Constitution should be an okay choice. If you put a gun to my head right now and said pick one, that's the one I'd go with. Maybe try the holiday inn on Constitution as well. I would think it's pretty reasonable. Of course there is a hampton inn there as well but who knows how expensive it is.

A lot of Jim Beam will make you not think so. But when you look at your bloody feet the next morning, you realize a) it is too far and b) i should have worn shoes.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I'll look into some of the nicer places yall mentioned. It wouldn't bother me too much, but i'm sure she would appreciate a nicer class hotel.

And it really doesn't matter where you stay. Traffic will be awful after the game. Though, Im sure you and most of your friends will get an early start on the traffic.:wink:

Cook hotel is most likely already booked and you would pay a lot to stay on campus on a weekend, for an Auburn game. Downtown would be cool but if you got a room but again, might be pricey. I suggest staying in Gonzales and driving in for the game. All you would have to do is just get on highway 30/ nicholson and drive about 20-30 minutes into baton rouge. My apartment is right on the corner of e. boyd and nicholson so I'll let you park there if you want, that way you'll be off the road and in a gated lot...for free.

If you like to gamble, try the Sheraton Convention Center. It's next to the Belle of BR casino and has shuttle service to the game (not sure if they still do it). The Hilton Downtown isn't bad, either. Downtown is much improved.
