The Kentucky game scares me probably the most actually.... Trap game between Florida and Auburn. We gave them their worst loss by FAR last year, and the last time we were in Lexington was the Bluegrass Miracle
The schedule is good to make a run, with most of the hard games in TS. Another thing I like about it, we don't have two weeks back to back with top 15 ranked teams. We play a hard one, then we get a a not so hard one. I still think Ky. is a trap game, between Fla and Auburn, and on the road. Hardest back to back will be Auburn at home, followed by Bama on the road. That's not gonna be easy. Auburn/Bama could both be in the top 15 when we play them back to back, but its not that way in preseason, which counts for nothing, like our ranking counts for nothing until we win a few games.
I see us losing one. Arky, Florida, and Auburn are all down this year. Bama, SC, and Kentucky are average. Vt is the best team we play, although their offense suck ass. I only see us losing to VT or Florida.
"Funny you should ask". Wish I could name the person that coined the phrase. I HONESTLY think this is LSU's chance for the undefeated season. Of course I'm a fan, but I feel I'm looking at this objectively. VT has a very good defense but I don't think it's as strong as ours and can hang for 60 minutes. Florida lost too damn many good players. Auburn didn't beat us last year and won't do it this year unless they can get the same referees and move the game to their stadium, and that ain't gonna happen. Saban's a great coach, but he's not good enough to turn a program around in one summer, so scratch Alabama. The other teams on our schedule don't have a prayer. either fla or the visor gets the benefit of a untimely turnover. i agree with the "trap" game scenario as well, but with it being on the road i think the troops will be more focused. looks like 11-1 from here.
I think we'll beat VT, but take a loss to an SEC contender like Florida. I also worry that we'll take an unexpected loss somewhere along the line, probably early. 10-2
11-1. UK is a trap game sandwiched between Florida and Auburn. We'll fall flat after beating Florida, then rebound to whip Auburn.
If the offense can improve on the time of possession (avg in 2006: 30min, 10sec), I say 12-0. I could not find time of possession stats nationally, but I did find total number of offensive plays. In this category, LSU was pretty pedestrian in relation to other very good offenses (LSU ranked 11th in the country offensively last year, Oregon was 9th). If LSU can just split the difference between the 2006 team's total offensive play count (818) and Oregon's (i.e., Gary Crowton's) play count of 958 (2nd best in the country), I think 12-0 is very possible. An increase of at least 70 plays over the course of a season is an average of approx. 6 more plays a game---6 more chances to run clock, get into scoring position...and keep the other team's offense on the sidelines. No comments on the defense, as all expect it to meet or exceed last year's outstanding play.
That's true but the time of possession was pretty close in a lot of LSU's blowouts because our D would tire down and the other offense would still try to run plays and also with our offense scoring on big plays very fast. However I would like to see our offense have more plays as well, that is alwyas a good thing.
Onze et un. One of dem sneeky sneeky teems wheel beet us. Wheech one? Heh, ur guess ees as gud az moine.
