Here is the thing linemen are kind of like a brotherhood no matter the team.

I think this guy might want to have his head on a swivel for the next game because if he did this to one lineman he could do it to another and someone will make sure that he doesnt get that chance!

Not saying that I want something career bad to happen to him just thing he will be watching most plays laying on his back

Fatal? I think someone is being a little dramatic.

Yes it was cheap, yes Auburn knows it was cheap.

Yes Dorsey could (being the operative word) have been seriously injured.

But he wasn't, he sustained a sprain, the seriousness of which I'm sure we will know more on as the two weeks leading up to the Alabama game progress.

As for now, there is nothing we can do about it. Tubby already admitted it was wrong and that they should have been flagged for it. But he is not going to come out and say that it was malicious. He would be throwing a dumb, young player under the bus, and we all know deep-down how that looks.

It certainly looks like the block was intentional in that the O lineman at some point decided to go after GD's knees. Whether that decision came in the huddle, on the line before the snap or during the course of play will be forever impossible to determine unless he tells us.

By the same -- or a very similar token -- there is no way I'd believe CTT or anyone on his staff instructed, condoned, encouraged or in any way approved of that block. The vast majority of coaches, I believe, sincerely want to ruin their opponent's day by winning the game but have no desire to ruin anyone's life by intentionally hurting them. (And it takes a lot for me to say that about CTT because I hate that smirking little mother&^%#er almost as much as I hate Spurrier.)

The person with the most culpability here has to be the umpire. The replays show that he was looking right at the center of the line of scrimmage. That's good because that's his job. And I agree that, especially because of the speed of the game, nobody can see everything that's going on. But looking for those types of penalties -- and holding, a whole other story -- on the line of scrimmage until the ball is advanced past his position IS THE UMPIRE'S JOB. There are only two possibilities: 1) he just didn't see it; or 2) he ignored it. That means he's either incompetent or corrupt and, as I see it, either way he deserves to loose his Saturday job.

    :thumb: Exactly!

It will be interesting to see how TT and the SEC umpire's union (Is there any such thing?)penalize their own. That could have been horrible for GD's NFL career, the future that he has worked so hard far and so richly deserves! GD should have an insurance policy with Lloyds of London, because he seems to be targeted.

The post from the Auburn guy saying that the slide play fell through sounds like an excuse to me.
He should sit out at the very least one entire game!

    TigerKid05 Say Whaa!?!?

it was intentional, not tubby's fault. he got frustrated but you don't do that. word on the grape vine, when the kid got beat in his high school games he did the same thing

Watch this clip and you'll see why that punk did that to GD. Glenn tossed him aside like a....used kleenex.

It was certainly not an accident and the fact that they are trying to say it was makes it even more offensive.:angryfire

The link didn't come through so go to You tube and look up Glenn Dorsey = dominance and you'll see it. It was put there by khoumba, maybe somebody can link it into this thread.

I'd like to throw in my 2 cents here,
I think it's obvious that this was an intentional play. I saw Dorsey toss the kid the play before, and I'm sure Dorsey was "talking" to him a good bit at that point b/c you could see how fired up Glenn was at this stage in the game. It should also be noted, that both blockers are at fault. There is nothing illegal about using a "chop" block on a defensive lineman in a one-on-one situation. It's taught, and used by every football team (including LSU). The illegal, and dirty part of this play was the double team effect where the other linemane engaged Dorsey.
I agree w/ most others here that no one on the Auburn coaching staff would teach, or condone this type of double team. I also don't think that you can assume that they are being easy on the kid if they don't suspend him. You just don't know what is done internally within a program. An example is the Tyson Jackson penalty against KY. I know he got punished within the program (partly for making a stupid mistake at a most inopportune time), but he still played the next week.

So you think every player that commits an intentional personal foul should be punished the same way. I think the player who tries to end a players career should be handed a stricter punishment than the one who judo chops a QB wearing a helmet. His intention was to take Dorsey out of the game, the same should be done with him.
