How much will we blitz Wilson?

We saw more blitzing against AU than we did against UK. Although we did stray away from it about in the second half for some reason.

But we all know JPW does bad under pressure. So does Cox but we still didnt blitz him very much. The reason we held VT to a TD is because we blitzed. Glennon is bad under pressure, we brought the pressure, and Glennon did so bad that he was benched. Blitzing and playing tough, physical defense is LSU's bread and butter and I hope we see it against Bama. I want to see JPW on his behind and I want to get a fumble or int returned for a TD(something we havent done this year).

    Go tigers.:geauxtige :crystal:

Given how much we seem to have moved away from blitzing in the last few games, I don't think we'll see a whole lot of it; at least not as much as we did against Auburn.

Hopefully it is just a matter of the players being tired or something and we'll see a return to form -- at least I hope so.

I'm with you, I'd love to see John Sarah Jessica Parker John Wilkes Booth Wilson on his back most of the game.

I think blitzing will be a very important tool in this game. It's one thing to play it safe in Tiger Stadium, it's a different animal altogether in Tuscaloosa. LSU needs to take the crowd out of it quickly and put the fear of God (or LaRon Landry) into Wilson early in the game, and keep him off balance throughout.

Wilson gets rid of the ball very quickly. He can also scramble well.

DJ Hall has been playing like Marvin Harrison lately.

And the Tiger D is likely to play a few inexperienced players because of injuries to Dorsey and, more important to blitz packages, Beckwith.

Zenon has looked straight up bad the past few games. I'm not sure Pelini trusts him too much in single coverage.

I see some blitzing, but not much. D Line has to CRUSH the running game and get their hands up to knock down quick passes.

I'm not saying Tennessee is on the same level with yall, but they sent a lot of blitz at JPW and got burned. Not a single sack, and thats with two starting OL out. It'll be interesting to see if Miles and Co. can find a something on film to get into the back field.

Tennessee has a true freshman at safety.

I think one of the keys is to hit Wilsn hard early in the game. Maybe send Taylor or Steltz on one of the safety blitzes thar Laron did so well.

Is it possible that we have been using a "vanilla" defense leading up to this game and that we may go all out?

    no.

JPW isnt a statue like has been mentioned. He has the knack to pick up 6 or 7 yards easily, sort of like Flynn. His problem is he loses focus and throws off his back foot. Hope for that.

That thought went through my mind. It seems that Miles like to stick it to the opposing coaches. The fake field goal against Spurrier and the attempted jump pass by our back up QB against Meyer (like Tebow did to us last year) are two that come to mind. Using lots of pro-style blitzing against a Saban team would be humorous and I would not put it past Miles.

If we are lucky enough to have the SECW in hand for the Arky game, we will probably use a LOT of RP running plays against Arky (like McFadden).

Like I just said in another post, we need to blitz him a lot, as he has the ability to pick us apart if we aren't making him get rid of the ball early. I haven't seen a whole lot of Bama, so please someone tell me... Does Bama run alot of timing routes and screens?
