i think just about everyone short of the OL has caught a pass this year. Like a lot of teams we use the RB for a safety valve, so if the LB blitz and the RB gets underneath the coverage we'll take 5 yards and nickel and dime all night long. JPW doesn't have the touch or the arm strength for a deep pass threat. With the guys we have if we can get the ball to them in space we can make any team pay.

Yeah, I'm not knocking the defense too much for it, but we don't see to be blitzing as much.

He's getting better at picking up the blitz. I'm sure it's because he's getting more comfortable in the offense, making better checks at the LOS. The thing about your defense is that you can bring the house and still have the hot routes covered. For that reason you may see Bama go vertical more in this game than in the past.

Has anyone gotten deep on your secondary? I know Tebow hit a guy in the seam on a busted coverage, but I didn't get to watch the Kentucky game. Auburn didn't even try to get deep.

LSU should blilz more in this game, like they did early in the season. Our D line hasnt been as dominant as expected. Nonetheless LSU is known for its attacking D, I dont understand why Pelini has gotten away from that recently. I think losing C Pittman was a big loss. He got in the backfield on a very consistent basis, which really helped Jackson on the other side to go along with the blitzes. K Pittman, Alem, Levingston, and Johnson havent been able to be the quick rush specialist like C Pittman was.

The easiest way to describe the WR package is the K-gun offense that Buffalo ran back in the early 90's. Are you familiar with it?

i think lsu has been blitzing more than most of you think. just because the qb doesnt end up on his butt doesnt mean the D isnt blitzing. i think in general SEC offenses emphasize blitz pickups more since that 03 D.

But we don't want to see Wilson burn LSU on short, quick passes for first downs either. Our blitzing will depend on how effectively Wilson is with quick passes and how much pressure our line can put on him alone.

Tebow and Woodson were capable of burning us in that fashion and did so. Cox managed it for a half then sputtered. Pelini knows that stopping the play is more important than sacking the QB. It all depends on how Wilson handles the blitz--he burns us, we don't blitz much--he goes down, we blitz all afternoon.
