Concerning possible new jobs for Miles and Pelini, does anybody think that the timing of a Miles announcement (God forbid) to be HC at UM would alter Pelini's decision. If so do you think Skip would hire Pelini as HC or would he go for Crowton? I personally would rather Pelini b/c I want Crowton up top looking at the opposing D to scheme his next multi-pronged attack. If Neb does in fact have Pelini, I'm sure they have made him or will make him sign an intent letter before the UM job ever becomes available for Miles.
I would go with Crowton if I had to pick from one of them. Just because I would want someone who enjoys recruiting at the top of the program. Pelini is not a recruiting guy, he just doesnt enjoy it and that would worry me. If he goes to Nebraska, he is going to have an even more difficult time now that 3 players decommited this past week. Keep Crowton and Pelini at OC and DC if we can and hire someone that can mesh well with the coaching staff, recruits, well known around the coaching rings, and above all matches the personality of an LSU coach that LSU fans desire.
the coaching carousel this off season is gonna be some kind of crazy. Success can be a double edge sword huh.
I wouldn't be so quick to judge from past jobs. He was successful in Ruston and mediocre at BYU. Pete Carroll once destroyed a very good Patriots team, but has built SC into a power once again. Bill Bilechik was once run out of Cleveland and is now arguably the best head coach the NFL has ever seen. Dennis Franchione turned a doormat into a conference contender at TCU, but has had lackluster results at A&M. Timing is everything in coaching. Crowton could be very successful at LSU in his current situation...
Where was their 'D" in the last 2 minutes against BC. Not one blitz on last 2 drives................prevent DOES NOT WORK if multiple DB's don't understand that WR's NEVER get deeper than they are! Last 2 play's by BC showed a WR get behind 3 guys, got a break with the holding call then did the same crap again!
