Where were you sanctimonious guys when Charlie McClendon had a stable of thugs, reform school dropouts, and point shavers in the 1960's? Innocent students being beat-up if they encountered a group of football players in a bar, fans' car doors kicked in after games, a gambling ring paying running backs to fumble or fall down---hey, I'm 63 and I remember it all very well! It was just covered up then and no one wanted to make a big deal out of these incidents. Is it because the current trouble makers are black, whereas in the 60's the players were all white? I'm white and I'm sure I have a racist streak, but some of these statements about Perrilloux are just over the top. There were many worse incidents under Cholly Mac, just no outrage. Except, maybe, over someone reporting the incidents. Really "Ben Around", a lot longer than most of you posters.
maybe it's because those of us that are younger (and weren't around during said good old days) don't put up with the sort of chit your generation did. where as your generation obviously put up with despicable behaviour from white players, younger generations prefer to have a team of upstanding young men, no matter what their race. race never has, and for 99.99 percent of us, never will enter into the matter of having a program that promotes good citizenship. to say people here are racist in wanting a clean team is the height of hypocricy.
WHO in the hell puts their name in quotes?!?!? I wasnt there back then, Hell I wasnt alive yet, BUT I would put money on the fact that none of those guys would DREAM of going back to the scene of the crime WITH WEAPONS!!!! Here is some WD40 go oil your rocking chair and stare out the window waving at traffic.
1) Times have changed and that crap isn't tolerated anymore. 2) With 24 hour news media these days and the Internet, stories break too quickly to just be swept under the rug.
Come on now Crip....the only reason they didn't go back to the scene was because they didn't own cars, and cabs were too expensive. Pistols, back then, were a little hard to come by, and they would have looked funny walking around with double barreled shotguns. Plus...why go back? Surely, players back in the day, could fight better than the ones we have now. Since they most definitely won the fight, why go back? Times...they are a changing. And...just so you know..."saltyone" puts wood conditioner on his rocking chair...not WD40.
Ive been gone all weekend and I just read this topic but I cant imagine any LSU fan being very happy with the number of "incidents" we've had around our program the last year or so. Even if the worst rumors arent true there is evidently enough known that make you question why some of our football players put themselves in these situations. I would rather not be reading about it especially this week. This is bammer week damn it! :angryfire
Not just a attorney, but a Criminal Defense Attorney on speed dial who you have had to use 3 times this year. The latest you had to call him at 2:30 am for advice. There is being in the wrong place at the wrong time and then it becomes a pattern. Not good.
