Not too soon to start the pregame festivities, guys, now that Walt Reyes and the gang defended THEIR Dome so well today! I'll start off on something of a somber note, I guess, not the sort of rah-rah we'll see posted here the next 7 hours or so. I've had so, so much fun the past few weeks watching this team fight, overcome, perservere. Year after year we've watched LSU teams not play up to their potential, and year after year we've watched our team's stature on the national level slowly but surely deteriorate. I, like many of you, nervously watched games earlier in the year---Georgia, Florida, Auburn---almost waiting for us to slip up somehow and enter some sort of season-killing slide. It wasn't until that Auburn game that I truly believed in these kids and this coach, a faith I didn't have before only because of shortcomings on the part of past LSU teams, and not these guys. Coach's focus on just taking care of the task at hand and assuming, even, that the "rest"---other teams ahead of us in the polls, crazy-ass computers, fickle voters---would take care of themselves seems quite prescient, even brilliant. I guess all I can say is I have never been so happy as I am right now to be an LSU Tiger fan and so, so look forward to tonight's game. As long as those guys play with the confidence the coaches instill in them daily, the "rest" (in the form of the final score) will most certainly take care of itself. 30 days until the Sugar Bowl, men. Can we take care of busniess tonight and get there? It's all in LSU's hands.
I think and hope we can take care of business. Ive been around LSU football since I was a kid (b. 1954) and for a 49 year old man to be so hyped for a football game is totally mystifying. I love that school and football program so much (after my god and family) that I just cant take it. I want to win so bad. I just hope Jeff Boss and Charlie Mac's spirit are with 'em on the field. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!
I'm with you bellewr. I'm 38 years old and this is the biggest LSU football game I've ever seen. Hopefully not, But maybe ever will see? I'm very passionate about my LSU Tigers in football, basketball, and baseball. I think jus like you do! btw. I wouldn't want to have Nick Saban on the other side.
Sourdough, I genuinely believe that having Nick Saban on our sideline is going to be the difference tonight. I'd rather have him than Stoops right now.
Good stuff: Jordy sez: --LSU is MUCH better represented in the crowd than in 2001; in fact, he said, "LSU will NOT be drowned out of this one!" --The field in the Ga. Dome is not nearly as "slippery" as the field turf in Oxford. --He rode over on the team bus and he said the attitude was, although they respect Georgia, a "cool, business-like" confidence among the players.
I entered LSU in 1960, 2 years after our NC season. I have waited 43 years for this moment and the amazing thing is I feel quietly confident that this team with these coaches will get the job done. But, if they don't, I know that there will be many more opportunities like this, because Nick Saban is in the process of building a football program here that we LSU fans have never seen before but should be able to enjoy for as many years as he cares to stay. Geaux Tigers! I can almost taste sugar and it is sweeter than ever.
