I won't link the thread but I was telling the guys on Tidefans.com that I was amazed at the sour reaction I got from other fanbases since our win Saturday. I was disappointed in a buddy of mine's behavior but was pleasantly shocked at the LSU fans that either called me or I encountered. They have been nothing but class acts. Rather than acting like damn babies (as others have so far from other fan bases) the overwhelming majority of my friends that are LSU fans and my neigbhors have been great and extremely classy. That's what SEC/College football is all about. None of them "like" Alabama (as I don't "like" LSU) but they were happy FOR ME and celebrated with me. Now I know November 8 that will change and rightfully so. But my hats off to your fanbase that I've encountered. Very fun for both parties when that happens. I posted this because many times the "bad" only get posted about rival fan bases. It's good for the soul to post the "good" as well when it is merited. Thanks. Also- I will be the first to say (as a "gump"/"bammer"/"Crimons Kool-Aide Drinker") that LSU is the best in the SEC until they're knocked off. Our OL is very very good but what I've watched so far y'alls is a notch or so better. All of them should be drafted. My god Charles Scott should give them a portion of his NFL signing bonus when he enters the draft. Can't wait until November 8.
great post bama, thanks for the kind words. even if someone hates the tide, you can't discount what they did to UGA at their place with all the hype preceding the game. they were dismantled and to those who actually saw the game the score made it seem much closer. i guess they really were going to a mother#$%&*n funeral.
Well, I am packing for the Second Coming. Somebody says LSU fans are "class acts." And it is a Bama fan!! I recall when I was in college in 1982 and we finally beat Bama 20-10 (in what Bear Bryant later said was the most dominant 20-10 win he had ever seen). After the game in the parking lot I was looking for Bama fans to pick on. Invariably I yell "Tiger Bait" and they would veer off course to come up, shake my hand, and say "that is a really fin football team you have there. I hope you do well the rest of the way." Made me so sick to my stomach I could barely eat the second plate of barbecue I had later that night. It was like the final minutes of a Sugar Bowl when Nebraska had beaten us badly and one of their unofficial fan cheer leaders (40 year-old guy with a drumskin who led sections in cheers) was coming down the aisle. I was in a Nebraska section and stopped, shook my hand and said "great fan, great fan, support your team to the end." Puke-ola. How can we hate guys like you when you are so nice to us?????
Congrats BB! Bama dominated, enjoy it. I remember coming out of the dark ages of the 90's, and boy it feels good. Bama's back. Yur not talkin about it, ya did it. Tip o'the hat! Saban is history to us. He was a good coach here, lifted us out of the 90's. Now he's turned your program around quickly. To me, now he's just another coach out there that we have to deal with. Our game in Nov. looms larger now. We both have affairs to attend to before we meet, we have a harder road, IMO. JPW has the experience and looks better this year. Should be a whale of a game, I look forward to it. You have been a credit to your fanbase, always reasonable here at TF! Thanks for your classy post up at the top!
I think people at times get to personal with college football. really its entertainment. I guess when I had my daughter I realized LSU winning and Losing in the grand scheme of things really doesnt matter that much. Sure do I fly my LSU flag proudly here in Dallas. do I have one to many LSU stickers on the back of my Tahoe, yes of course. Should I spent yet another 100 bucks on an LSU cheerleading outfit for my daughter as she out grows every one of them. Sure. But I also realize what a great story we have shaping up, a former coach who left us for the riches of the NFL, returns to a rival and brings them back to Prominence. LSU is a two time National Champions (currently Defending)with one damn fine coach themselves. Ole Miss beats UF. Vandy is actually decent. How does it get any better. How can you write better Drama. I think its great the SEC is so tough and we all beat up on each other. Now that Bama is back makes it even more juicy.... Shaping up to be a blast of a year (Unless you are an Arkansas fan....)
Nice post BB. Yeah CNS is bama's coach, yeah they're in SEC West and rivals/threats to my beloved Tigers. BUT I enjoyed every effin second of that dismantling of that d!ckhead Richt. Hey Richt, why didn't you have your players rush on the field to celebrate that TD? Oh yeah, it was 31-10!!! LMFAO. All that crying last year, #1 ranking this year, undeserved love from the "experts". Flush! BB, congrats to Bama for now. Hell this week they're my 2nd favorite team. Richt & Georgia can kma forever more after that crying last year.
While you're being kind enough to leave those comments about our fans...... My wife & I have made the trip to Bama for the last two LSU games there. I can say without any hesitation that it is my favorite road trip to make. The Bama fans are very welcoming and pleasant to be around. We had tickets amongst the Bama fans both times too and were treated really well.
Of course people in Shreveport will be nice to you. They're expecting you back for the Independence Bowl. :hihi: Actually Bama is off to a great start and shouldn't have any problems leading up to the game with LSU. It's too far off to speculate on a favorite but it may turn out to be a great game. Will LSU's secondary come together? Will LSU be completely settled at QB? Can Bama keep their starters healthy? Can Bama's second stringers hang with LSU's second team? In 11 years at Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama...Saban has lost fewer than three games on only two occasions. Last year's team was 6-2 before that four game losing streak. I guess only time will tell.
Well unfortunately I can't do anything about that. Stats are stats so I can't argue them nor do I want to.There are a lot of very good coaches that are victim of that same stat so I'm not sure how detrimental that stat is to Alabama. He's only been here 1.5 years and the first year was nothing more than a normal transition for a team needing rebuilding. All I can hope for is that Saban will prepare our team and put them in a position every game to win and at that point all anybody can do is hope that the players execute and do the things they're suppose to.
