Looks like we will also be beating the smartest football team in college football tomorrow as well.:thumb:
Alot of those 'not so smart' football players are going to be making alot more than the average student though.. :wave:
That is kind of sad that not one team in the nation can meet the national average (usually around 1030). Average ACT is 21.1 I remember Duke saying a 30 on the ACT minimum to get in. I think GT told me a 27 or 28 minimum. Consider that when places like Notre Dame and others say that they have to deal with admission standards when recruiting. Also, 2.5 GPA and 820 SAT was the benchmark for the NCAA eligibility with a sliding scale.
This does not hold true for athletes. Their standards are not as low as the minimum NCAA standards but they can make much less than what you are stating here and get accepted.
I vote that article the most irrelevant piece of journalism of the year. What's the point of that? Justify the mediocre records of the Top 10? Here's a different spin. Teams like LSU, under Coach Miles specifically, give kids who would otherwise not earn a degree, a chance to have a quality life AFTER football.
Right. Also, standardized entrance exams are not a good benchmark for quality of character or the actual success a student accomplishes after college, i.e. many with low ACT/SAT scores entering college, have worked hard to obtain their degree and have had extremely productive careers after college. People look for ways to compare brightness, or intelligence, and GPAs/entrance exams provide that, but really do not speak toward that FLA players will be less successful student-athletes, or less productive members of society.
they all have a chance at a quality life regardless. the horrible admissions standards in the name of athletics just means that many kids wont try to do the best they can in school because they dont have to.
I appreciate your take on the low scores, Bandit. But how many of the lower scoring athletes do you think take their education more seriously in college as opposed to high school? :huh:
