Scout reporting Billy Gonzales (UF WR Coach) to LSU

    I thought Tolbert had already been announced as the WR coach, effective Jan. 3rd. Is he taking his place or Crowton's? Hard to believe that Gonzales would take a less than lateral move.

    :geaux: I'm really excited about this hire should it come to pass. :thumb: We could use a good breath of fresh air in the "pass game".:hihi: This guy knows about coaching some great WR's since they've had a few of those at UF. Again, great hire for CLM. :LSU231:

    One story is he got ticked off because Meyer would not make him OC at Florida.

    Well that would only matter if we hired him as an OC. Louisville offered him the OC job though.

    He is the WR coach for LSU.

    The passing game coordinator is essentially the same thing. Probably means he will help design the passing game plan each week but the calls will ultimately stay with the OC. Not sure how much he was involved with coaching QBs at Florida or his other stops but I will see what I can find out.

    Some UF fans are saying he called the redzone offense plays for UF.

    He was also the recruiting coordinator at UF and closed much of the UF prospects. Yes, he was the recruiter for Justin Hunter and Mike Davis for Florida and now LSU.:grin:
