Is it too early to start talking about the baseball team? Has anyone heard what fall workouts were like, what our starting pitching looks like, and if we're moving away from the gorilla ball expectations? Personally, I really like Manieri's demeanor and his enthusiasm. Any guy who's willing to take a hit with a buyout clause to come here shows that he really wants to be here. Also, is anyone doign anythign special this year for our last season at the old Alex Box? At first I wasn;t excited about the new stadium but I think it's going to be really nice (as long as TAF doesn't take my seats). Let's bring back the domination!
Mainieri is a great man... he really is. I got to spend time with him recently, and he is special. Now, with that being said, it will take some time, but i have utmost faith he is the right man for the job.
Expect a well disciplined team. You will not see players in Tigerland the night before a home game any longer. Folks close to the program who understand baseball expect big things in the next few years.
I too have faith in Maineri. And agree that a well disciplined team off the field will work well on the field. I can't wait for the first pitch.
I don't follow baseball too much (I go to many games and had season tickets last year) but at the time of the hire I really thought it was a great hire at the time. I still hope that is true.
It is always a great time to talk Tiger Baseball. There was a good article in the Baton Rouge Advocate on Jan. 16. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/featured/5206456.html (you may need to copy and paste into your browser search line, I always have trouble with this) Regarding pitching, the article says that Coach Mainieri indicated Charlie Furbush, Jared Bradford, Louis Coleman and Clay Dirks were the primary candidates for the weekend pitching rotation. ldskule:
