If Petrino is making 3 mil next year Miles just recieved another salary boost without winning the national title. I heard someone report Petrino's salary at 3 mil, but I don't know if it was an average over a few years or what. His salary next year may or may not be 3 mil. Anyway, since Miles' contract stipulates he is to make in the top 3 in the SEC now, his pay is currently based on Tubby's pay because he is third currently at around 2.6 mil, give or take a 100 thousand. So if Petrino's pay is higher than Tubby's, Miles just got another raise. Of course if we win the title it will be a mute point because his salary will jump to around 3.5 mil.
He already signed his new contract. The contract stipulates top 3 at the time, which he was. It will not be redone unless he wins the National Championship.
I don't know that Petrino should be paid that much, and I doubt he will have "Louisville" success at R-kansas. This is the SEC. At least I hope he doesn't have the same success! :crystal: :geauxtige :crystal: :geauxtige :crystal:
Ok, I'm just trying to clarify. If we don't win the title game this year (blasphamy) Miles would have to wait until we win the SEC championship again before his salary would be raised into the top 3 SEC coaches?
Well, technically his contract could be redone at any time. But his contract requires that it would have to be redone if he wins the NC or the next time he wins the SEC.
what happens if 4 sec coaches have contracts that say they must be one of the top 3 paid sec coaches?
Who ever signs their contract first gets screwed, because the next coach gets $1 more (as if that matters when we're talking $3 million). The contract states that they must be one of the top 3 highest paid at the time the contract is formed & signed - not that they must stay one of the 3 highest.
Actually, the Petrino deal might end up boosting Les's salary afterall. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/12452116.html?index=1&c=y
