Tell that to division 1AA or Division II and Division III where playoffs are a mainstay and have been for years....these are the schools with "less resouces"? No. The outcry will happen this year. The status quo will not suffice. My way everyone makes plenty of money and the bowl sites don't lose money. Everyone wins. Got questions? Ask me.
If they don't get a playoff, they need to scrap the preseason polls. Last year was last year and it should not have any factor into the current year. The first poll should come out in October, when it makes sense.
Hate to tell you, but the first BCS poll does indeed come out in October. Keep the faith, AU fans. Win out and you're playing in the Orange Bowl. Mark my words....but don't blame me if it doesn't happen.
Any other year I would agree with your statement. However, Auburn has a very favorable schedule this year. Take a look at who they've played. A very bad LOUISIANA-MONROE WON 31-0 A very bad Mississippi State WON 43-14 A quality LSU WON 10-9 A very bad THE CITADEL WON 33-3 A quality Tennessee WON 34-10 A very bad LOUISIANA TECH WON 52-7 A below average 4-5 ARKANSAS WON 38-20 Very bad KENTUCKY WON 42-10 Very Bad Mississippi WON 35-14 Quality GEORGIA 11-20-04 at Alabama Out of 10 games played so far only 3 of their opponents have a winning record. (LSU, TN, GA) I don't see their schedule being more difficult than USC and certainly not Oklahoma.
Double standard...go back and look at last year's LSU schedule (with the loss) and tell me that LSU was more deserving than Auburn. You're saying the exact same thing that the media said about LSU last year.
The one lost was nullified because everyone else had one loss. We played: A very good GA A very good GA A very good Ole Miss A quality Arkansas A quality Auburn A quality Florida (we lost) AUBURN A quality LSU A quality Tennessee A very good GEORGIA A quality Alabama An average TN (No QB) Which SEC schedule is more difficult? To me it's clear. Keep in mind LSU just barely squeezed into the BCS Championship.
You guys are just making my point for me....the only fair way is to play it off on the field. Set up the playoffs with 16 teams using the formula of last year's BCS WITH strength of schedule included. Have the top 8 teams "hosting" first round games at the closest bowl site to their campus at the schools'/NCAA's disgression (today's BCS Bowl sites excluded). The 2nd round would have 4 games with the now-BCS Bowl sites hosting and the highest seeded team picking the venue, 2nd highest seeded team picking of the 3 remaining and so on. The 2 national semifinal games would be at: a) 2 neutral sites equidistant from both competing school's campuses, or b) bid upon before the season and held at a neutral site or 2 neutral sites. The national championship game's site would be bid upon much as the Super Bowl is in the NFL with the site determined years in advance. Still think there'd be "no money in it"?
utah is a good team regardless your short sightedness. they'd probably handle LSU if that means anything. top 6 team? they are close.
