This game for y'all sorta reminds me of our game against florida last week. Y'all have alot of talent, but lost a gut wrenching game. It's only your second game of the season... LSU can easily have a GREAT season. A young quarterback and a new head coach... things can happen. Just about every tennessee fan was calling for randy sanders and phil fulmer's head after the florida game... and were still calling for it through halftime of this game. But, they all forgot it was only one game with plenty more still to play. But, I think y'all will be fine and you will have a great season. Good luck and beat florida.
Just when I hate Tennessee the most, a Vol fan has to come in and put things in perspective. As much as I hate to say it, y'all showed a lot of character tonight. That bitch Rick definitely rubbed it in on ESPN after the game though. I still hate him and his brother.
I dunno, if 90,000 fans boo'ed me when I took the field in the biggest game of my life I would probably be inclined to rub it in their faces... but, that's just me... and I guess Rick Clausen. I think that was part of y'all's undoing-- this kid loves pressure and I think that really encouraged him to show everyone in that stadium what he could do, just my opinion.
Rick Clausen ain't $h!t. He would be our 4th string QB this year at best. He didn't do anything that some junior high QB couldn't do given our defensive game plan and coaching. Clausen did not beat LSU, Les Miles beat LSU. Tennessee does have a pretty good team and I don't dislike Tennessee or it's fans but Clausen ain't $h!t and Miles and his staffs coaching is. The more talented team was beaten by a less talented team with a much much better coaching staff and at least some clue of how to play the game. I have a feeling that if Miles had been coaching USC, Texas or VT in this game against Tennessee the outcome would have been the same.
He had his chance at LSU and blew it. And as for you being inclined to rub in fan's faces? That just makes you classless. And people wonder why NFL players are the way they are. The fans condone their behavior. Rick Clausen lost all my respect tonight with his performance AFTER the game.
it wasn't rick that beat us, it was our pitiful coaching/defense scheme/ball handling. your team would have 7 less and we'd have at least 3 more. Rick just played ball control, which is all we ask of Russell and sometimes it's there, sometimes it ain't. the real deal is less to do with rick and more to do with phat philly, ... he wanted the deep ball and to run riggs, so he had ainge in with riggs to play ball control with a deep threat ( 0n occasion ) good plan but.... that didnt work..... so plan B was go to the ASU play book and attack our soft defense agaisnt the 6-12 yard passes. It just so happened ainge screwed up enough for Phill to pull him and bingo the plan came into place. Clausen saw his one and only chance an took it, good for him I hope he catches poison ivy next week while wallowing in the grass remembering it. You owe your win to ..your coach. He changed QB's and game plans at half time. Too bad for us.
clausen performed to his ability but surely it wasnt enough to beat LSU without an impaired coaching staff. anyone who sees otherwise is really lost.
I don't know, maybe you didn't read my post. I was trying to say that you should lay off the coaches... it's only one game and it's only the second game of the season, ALOT can happen. If you beat florida your season is completely turned around. I agree that Clausen isn't the best QB in the world. He was an under-the-radar transfer and the only reason anyone knew who he was was because he is casey's brother... but he has heart. Ainge is an all-star, blue chip recruit... but, he hasn't played with the heart, nor the desire to win that Clausen has. Ainge is a talented, skilled, finesse player (or, at least that's what he's supposed to be), and Clausen is proving that he has heart. And I think that's more important. We couldn't win the big games with peyton, but along comes Tee Martin, another guy who plays only to win... and it did us alot better as a team. I know y'all are pissed, and I was pissed this time last week, but it's only one game and your season will be fine as long as you don't keep booing your coaches and players.
