Very good article today in the advocate. Miles does his homework and I am very impressed with his knowledge on the subject. He goes deeper into the comments and gives great examples of scheduling success and failures. Discusses the Texas A&M series and how the roles are reversed now. LSU would benefit more from recruiting in Texas and A&M would put itself out of contention early with a loss. Long and very enjoyable read.

LSU is trying to bring in top teams from the Pac 10 and Big 10. Doesnt seem like it will happen for a long time becasue of the risk-reward factor of playing in Death Valley.

    That sounds a bit strange?

PAC 10 schools have readily booked home and home's with the SEC. Arizona and Arizona State with LSU. USC with Arky. Cal with UT. WSU with Auburn.

Is this just about a home only with LSU, because I would believe that schools would turn that down.

Just a question... is it that or is it LSU doesn't want the home and away series.
For example, tOSU has Southern Cal, Miami, Fl, Cal, and VT on their future schedule... all home and away matches.
I know Iowa's policy in scheduling other BCS conference schools requires "home and away" games. Along with our annual game against that Big 12 juggernaut, Iowa State, we have on our futures: Arizona State, Pitt, and Syracuse.

.... so it can be done... unless you're just looking for home games.

I'd love to come down for an LSU/Iowa game... and get you guys into our "arena league" stadium!!!

    Another question...

Does your conference affiliation with CBS restrict you at any level to get prime time coverage against a foe affiliated with the ABC family?

I saw where the VaTech game is an ESPN prime time game, but not an ABC or CBS special, whereas the Texas/tOSU games the last two seasons were ABC specials.

The reason I ask is because I read a while back that part of the negotiation of the tOSU/SouCal future games included ABC prime time contracts... and because both play in "ABC rights conferences", the deal was easily finalized.

Great read. I'm happy to see CLM taking more control of our program from a Public Relations stand point. I feel his energy and commitment to our school. I'm stoked about this upcoming season like no other in recent years. I suspect we will see one of the premier coaching jobs play out this season. My prayers are for no major injuries. As a Commodore Club member hear in Nashville I will be pulling for Vandy to beat all SEC West teams they face, especially Bama here in Nashville.

Boy, do they have a killer schedule or what?? Looks like ours last year..plus South Carolina on the road- which, traditionally hadn't meant much but think that changes this year.

I could not agree more. I remember when LSU played Texas A&M early in the season and saw the program take a nose dive after losing to it. At that time I remarked to friends that LSU needed to schedule the first three or four games to less opponents in order to give itself time to improve to where it was ready to take on the tougher opponents. LSU seems to have done this for the last several year and the effects have been beneficial. This year has hopefully been a bit of a fluke with VT being scheduled for the second game of the season.
