They surely did not play like a #1 ranked team is supposed to. If these polls had any legitimacy to them, they would change week in and week out depending on who you beat and how you beat them. Yes a team should drop from a certain ranking if they win ugly.

If what I witnessed was a #1 Team in the nation performance we are in for a very poor college football season.

I am currently at work and we watched the game with people from all over the country and no one I talked to was impressed with anything they saw from the boys from troy.

CFN has Virginia Tech at #35 now. If the 35th best team plays another team as close a game as they did tonight how is it possible that the other team could be the second best team?

USC will get exposed this year, its sad that the ref made such a horrible call and turned the game around. The hokies played a great game. USC's offensive line and WR's has issues. I think Cal will whoop up on them this year.

It doesn't really matter if you are #1 or #2

as both spots play for the marbles. #3 is the odd man out, and at this point with such a long season ahead of us, poll watching is for politicians. Let's concentrate on the process.

I'm sure that I could find an article from the last month or so in which CFN hailed the almighty Trojans as possibly the most talented, fastest, strongest team ever. Now, after one game, which they won, they are suddenly not as good as an Oklahoma team that got brutalized in the last two games they played. Human polls are too fickle to be relied upon.

Even the hacks at CFN could see that USC looked nothing like a #1 team last night. A real defense would have left pieces of lienarts body strewn all over the field with that soft offensive line they had.
