I want this guy to be our QB... he has a brain and guts and good speed... I think, given a chance, he could be amazing. If he isnt the man after this season, I hope he transfers.. nothing is wores than wasted talent... I want to see this kid in the NFL... http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=431021
This upcoming year will be one that this web-site will see rapid increases in posting. Why? Because factions will form from RP's crowd, Flynn's crowd, and Russell's crowd.
I thought Flynn would win out the job during the season last year, and for a moment I thought I was vindicated during the C1 bowl..but he played poorly. I still think he's got the potential to be the best QB on the team, he just seems to 'get it' when it comes to reading Ds and making the calls...he just hasn't 'gotten it' when it comes to making the throws.
This is what I hate about having such depth at quarterback. I want all three to succeed, but I don't want one to transfer. Something tells me, though, that it will likely be Flynn that ends up leaving. Russell and Perrilloux just seem to have too much talent and the way I see it, Russell starts the next two years, Perrilloux redshirts this year and gets mop up duty next year before Russell leaves for the draft. Flynn will be the odd man out and I can't blame him for wanting to get some playing time. Hopefully things will be more clear when fall camp opens as to who is the better QB.
I still just dont see Perrilloux taking a red****.. in his mind he is already in the NFL, they just dont know it yet... He will insist on dressing...
He can insist all he wants, but it is up to Miles. I trust Miles to do whatever is best for the team, so I'm not gonna worry abut it.
Matt Flynn threw 10 passes last year.. 4 in the C1B... you are gonna judge the guy on that? Russell was 9 of 26 in his first game... If i remember right, he started off 0 for 6...
Flynn has the head & drive to be a very successfull QB, but he's not as physically talented as Jamarcus or Ryan. Jamarcus has the experience & has shown that he can be great. Flynn has very limited game experience & hasn't been impressive yet. You can't read a story that says he's smart & say he should be LSU's QB - that's dumb. Jamarcus has shown that he can be a good player & IMO, it would take Flynn having one hell of an offseason & a good bit better than Jamarcus for him to become next year's starting QB & pass up Jamarcus because of JR's game experience. And as we saw in the Spring Game - Flynn isn't there yet. He could scramble better than Jamarcus but didn't make any better decisions (2 interceptions, although one not his fault) & no thrown touchdowns.
