It's like that tunnel vision thinking.. If I keep buy lotto tickets from the same 7-11 that Bubba won his Double wide from, Im gonna get rich.
Bama fans so desprate for a winning coach, that they forget about his terrible teams at MSU and his even worst NFL team.

i don't know. if you take away the dolphins stint, nick's had a pretty good career. i know there's no love lost, but he left both LSU and mich st in better shape than when he got there and imo he's still a great defensive mind and coach.
with that said, i hope we trounce bama every time we play them.

He is good for Bama. I think most Bama fans are just as happy they don't have Shula. Personally, the infatuation with Saban comes from just as many opposing fan bases.

    I agree

I think the jury is still out on that one. He is a great defensive coach, a great recruiter and did turn LSU around. However he didn't produce consistently great seasons or teams. He runs off assistants like crazy and is never satisfied to stay anywhere long term. He is yet to prove he can win long term anywhere. Great defensive coach yes, really good head coach yes, great head coach I'm not sure.

It is time to focus on game one, time to drill satan is later on.

Actually his last season at MSU, he compiled a 10-2 record beating Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Florida (he was not the coach during this game).

Before Saban arrived at MSU, they had not had a wining season since 1990. Saban gave them that in '95 (6-5-1) and '97 (7-5). '98 was a .500 season and then he finally had a pretty good year in '99. He was given a bad hand to start with...I'd say he did a decent job with it...

As far as the pro's go...He wasn't a good pro coach. That can be said of many and the one that comes to mind is Steve Spurrier. He did horrible with the Redskins but can you honestly say that the man isn't a great coach?

I'm not one of those that is on the "Got Saban" or "Sabanation" bandwagon but I do think that we pulled the right straw on this one. I dont think that we could have done any better and I think that a lot of fans feel the same way, that's why they are so excited.

It's not going to be a 10-2 year but I dont think we are far from that, especially the way recruiting has picked up since Saban's arrival. We will probably shock a team or 2 this year...The little things like conditioning and actual coaching (both Shula knew nothing about) will help Bama win some games that they couldn't last year...

I'm just excited for football man...:thumb:
